Advice on good schools for my 9 year old and 16 year old

I am in need of recent information on schooling for my 9 year old and 16 year old. I plan to move over in August so will require (places permitting) information on which schools are recommended. My 16 year old would be studying her A levels and my 9 year old would be starting in year 5. I would prefer them to be in the same school, however understand that this may mot be possible. I have already had a message from Doha College to say my 9 year old is on a list and IF shortlisted will then have to sit a test and if passed would be offered a place. I am concerned that if a place does not come up soon or if he doesnt pass the test I would be stuck without a place and would then have to find a different school. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all so much, our daughter has a provisional place at Park House to study A levels from Setember, our son is 20th on the list at DESS, however we are holding out for a place at Park House which should be easier once our daughter starts. I think I will home school him until then. I can honestly say based on personal experience with Doha College I wouldnt give them our hard earned cash after the disorganized chaos of their administration system. So very rude and inept. 4 months on and Im no further forward.

Think they have been living off their reputation for too long.

Oops, how many times did I use the word currently in my previous post.

I didnt think the International School followed the British curriculum, there is not an awful lot of information online.

I will also check out Doha British School. All advice is greatly appreciated, if only schools would allow you to visit :(

Thank you all so much, my husband is currently living in the Diplomatic area of West Bay , we are currently visiting in school holidays. My daughter is currently finishing her GCSE's in the UK hence the move in August.

I am having huge issues with my daughter as she is not too happy about the move, although after our recent visit is warming to the idea. I thought it would be easier to have them in the same school. It is a little concerning that Doha college can evaluate a child based on a school report to make it on to their shortlist.

We were thinking of moving to an area near Doha College and hoped being in a compound would make it a little easier for the children to settle or am I being naive.

Though Qatar is small traffic in here can be an issue, so I recommend to find accommodation and then a suitable school near your area!

If transportation and location is not a problem for you then you might want to check

1 The Int'l School of Choueifat

2 Global Academy

3 Al Hamad International Developed School

4 The Cambridge School

they are from 1-12 grade
