Where to buy Espresso Machines & Good Coffee?

By flightlessbird

I am wanting to purchase a semi professional espresso machine such as La Pavoni, La Cimbali, Elektra. I love my coffee and need to satisfy my coffee requirements with a good machine and good beans. Can anyone suggest stores that may sell the items?...Thanks for any info.

Try Lakeland Citycentre.  I purchased a Delonghi coffee machine there, I'am sure they had other types of coffee machines as well.  You may wish to ask if they can order for you as there stock is sent to them from Dubai.good luck

If you can find it, get the Delonghi esam6700 coffee machine, better than Starbucks coffee and alot cheaper.Go to www.delonghicoffeemachines.org if you want more information. Dave

You can certainly buy it in the grocery. If you can't find it there try the other grocery store. Usually they have it. If you need some coffee makers review, visit this one site.

How much were the Saeco machines, and where on Salwa is Moka? I am *dying* for a proper machine. My Saeco superautomatic (Encanto Deluxe) in the U.S. was ~US$800. . .so just under 3,000QR. Any hope of getting a machine for around that price?

I need a machine that won't make me wait between shots since I typically drink at least a double, if not a triple (yes, yikes).

Thanks so much for posting, flightlessbird!

Hi again anyone interested in coffee machines..after exhaustive searching the best shop I could come up with is Moka in Salwa road that sell Saeco machines and a fancy lever Gaggia...All were too expensive compared with overseas prices so I ended up getting a Kenwood ES460 machine from Carrefours for around 450Qr which actually makes very good coffee. Nice amount of crema and very good milk frothing. I recommend this machine as a budget possibility.

As far as coffee goes I am still using my beans I bought over from NZ but slowly running out. Found some interesting single origin and blended beans at reasonable prices 30-40 Qr for 450gms at a place in LuLu centre on D Ring but cant remember the name of the shop but there are a string of others around Doha its like a franchise thing.

Good luck I'm off to enjoy a tasty Machiato without paying the ridiculous cafe prices here.

I didn't see anywhere that anyone told you where Modern Home is...there are a couple of Modern Home outlets, the largest being next to Jarir bookstore on Salwa Road at the Ramada intersection (on the right side of the road going away from the Corniche, just after you cross the intersection). There is also a Modern Home in City Center Mall. Coffee is indeed quite expensive here. I do not have the money for a good espresso machine here (we have one in storage in the States), so I am making do with a stovetop for now, but I agree that Illy is the best I have found here (but be prepared to pay QR 45 per can). Good luck in your search!

Cindy, is this the thing you were looking for?

www.liangdianup.com/computeraccessories_1.htm

It's on the list of computer accessories and parts. They have the DVI video thing to convert that jap monitor to work with your other computer. Just about any other kind of wire adaptor, usb connectors, monitor extension wires, ps2 extention wires, and all kinds of female and male swap connectors and things that I think would help your shop. If that above link don't work then goto www.lducompany.com and click on computer accessories. Let me know if that is what you need and give me your email address again.

Thanks again folks for comments...However saying that you dont need an espresso machine to make decent coffee isnt helpful or in any way correct...try telling a cafe to use plungers or instant rather than their La Marzocchas....Its a bit like saying you dont really need a Game rod and reel to go game fishing, try hauling in a Marlin with a hand reel....I have found so far that Coffee is very expensive here...about twice the price I was paying in NZ for a really good Arabica....I might just have to drink more tea....from the pot as opposed to tea bags....

So far my endeavours to locate a good ( Italian ) machine have proved luckless....However in Blue Salon upstairs there is a Nespresso shop selling their machines...The guy there gave me a short black which was pretty good, however you have to use their little capsules which may prove expensive...quite sexy looking machines though, just not what I'm after.

Please post if you find a good one. I had a superautomatic espresso machine by Saeco in the U.S. and desperately miss it.

A quality frothing feature is a must for me, as is the ability to make quick repetitive shots. . .I generally make double or triple cappuccinos and don't like my shots to get cold while I'm pulling another one. :o(

Thanks for any info that you provide. . .I just arrived two days ago, so I'm completely clueless here!

Hey thanks everyone for the comments...In my experience stove tops dont make great coffee they burn the coffee by being too hot even using an Atomic....Sorry but I like a real shot with crema and you dont get that from stove tops...I will certainly check out Centrepoint, Blue Salon, Modern Home and Office One...Where is Blue Salon and Modern home..I am fairly new here...Thanks again folks.

Nespresso is quite a decent espresso ( as I gulp one down). It is hassle free too.....

Blue Salon has many machine options from basic to the super duper ones...

Lavaza is better I must say though

I am using Nespresso.. I love it!! I checked so many brands said above..... but still this is the best.. It's rather expensive but if you want to enjoy every morning, it's worth! It's availaible in Blue Salon, and I saw it in Office One on Salwa Road. They have big selection of coffee, starting from the stongest to vanila aroma and so on..

We gave up buying one here and and brought it back with us on our last trip to the UK.

There is one shop on Salwa road that might have something suitable. It's on the left hand side heading out of time. Can't remember how far up or the name I'm afraid.

Illy beans are available.

Thanks Amoud, I have checked Carrefour but require something a bit more heavy duty than what they have. Thanks for the tip on coffee I will check them out. Cheers.

Carrefour has a decent selection, and you can get coffe from any of the coffee shops (Starbuck etc). I use Illy coffee, can buy it it most supermarkets.
