Kaiiria is right about the colour of the Maasdamer, but that apart, it's just a Dutch cheese masquerading as a Swiss one :o)
It could be also Maasdamer which is my favourite. :)
And it really has that intense yellow colour compared to Emmentaler which is like beige colour.
Andee is right - Emmental. Or even Gruyere.
The French cheese Comte tastes very similar, too.
These don't require 'recipes'. Eat it like you want - best with good, crusty bread or plain crackers, maybe accompanied with charcuterie :)
As the French say, 'cheese and bread are like medicines for health' :)
You could also use them for salads, sandwiches, with smoked fish, etc.
Emmental and Gruyere are also typically part of the classic Swiss fondue (which is made by mixing these 2 cheeses along with white wine and flour).
andee...its used for salad or with bread,or cud be eat raw?cud me gv me a recipe?
The cheese that you are looking for is called Emmental cheese. You will find it at the deli counter of any supermarket. There is French variety and there is also the Swiss variety....
