What has been your dining experiences eating at the restaurants at Waqif Souk?
Oh wise ones, I'm asking for your help. My husband and I want to take some business associates out for dinner tonight. They are in from the US and have been eating hotel food everyday this week. We would like to dine somewhere in the Waqif Souk.
Can you guys recommend any of the restaurants there? What's on the menu? Your experiences?
Thanks in advance!
Also their is Iraqi rest. called AL A'AZAMIYAH. it is really good and it was first time to know that Iraq has it's own food kinds. it is recommended to any one.
If you like to take your gust for American home cooking you should take them to Ricks country kitchen near souq area.
The Moroccan restaruant by Hagen Daaz is nice! Good atmosphere, great food.
You would take 'em to the Hotel Bismilla - an Indian Restaurant for good spicy food. Always seen a huge crowd queing up there so its better to book prior in advance
i have a question regarding SOY RESTO.... is it reasonable price they're offering or like the price of a 5 star fine dining experience as i may ask? i love to try though its a nice info from all of you thanks....
very good thread and enriching replies.keep it up
For me: Fish market and , just beside, Maroccoan restaurant
oh and before i forget, the moroccan tea at tajine is a must try!!! it's really good!!!
yeah SOY RESTAURANT (Asian Fusion) is one of the nicest places to dine at in souq waqif... nice asian theme & food... it's located in front of haagen das i think... near the public toilets... tajine is also a good place... and another is la gourmet... so far those are the three places i've been to and i've enjoyed my experience there... they also serve good sheesha at la gourmet... i recommend the apple-mint... =)
What is the exact location of SOY Restaurant?
I love Isfahan restaurant the Iranian restaurant closer to the Grand Hamad side of the souk not near the Iraqi or Tajine rest. Its gorgeous inside, you can eat on the floor down or at tables upstairs, its unlike any rest. they will have seen. Plus, I enjoy the food. Its a treat for visitors. Great Lemon/Mint drinks
HI!!!!
You have 2 options Le Gourmet the food is very very good there ,it s french and lebaneese food but you have to wait a long time before to get a table ,so try to call before to make a reservation, you can find their phone number in the marhaba guide, the second one is the Tajine restaurant,it s a morrocon one, the couscous royal and mint tea are excellent and the restaurant is very nice too......Bon appetit!!!
No doubt, Isfahan Gardens would be the place. It's an Iranian restaurant that is absolutely beautiful. You can sit majlis style downstairs or at a table upstairs. It's a great cultural experience and the food is good, too. It's one of those places that any time someone visits, it's on our to do list.

try SOY RESTAURANT...it's new but the food is just awesome....you'll love it!
If you like Indian food it is worth trying Khana Khazana. The recipes are from the famous Indian Chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
very nice food. often go there. take friends and family too. forgot the name of the restaurant but its opposite the fine art exhibition centre. nice atmosphere outside downstairs and upstairs.
Isfahan in Souq Waqif is a great restaurant to entertain foreign guest.
Food is mostyl middle eastern (Lebaneese) but great.
The ambiance and decor is also very nice. (Ask the management to see the personal dining room of the Emir if possible)
It is kinda pricey tough
SOY RESTAURANT is the newest and nicest place to dine. I will bet 100%. The experience is great, ambience, staff, location, menu, and of course the food!
Highly recommended! It opened just last 30 Dec 2008, accidentally tumbled upon the place while browsing at Souq Waqif. Dont be afraid to ask anyone especially the stationed police officers around in case you need some directions. Worth every Riyal.
The persian restaurant is good..in terms of atmosphere Souq Waqif is pretty decent place. Not one those typical places where u'll find only certain type of crowd. For visitors thats an ideal place to take.
Hello, ive tries the Tajenne (think thats spelt correct) and i have found it very good, staff friendly and reasonable price, go there mostly Sat lunchtime after swimming. They also have the hubbly bubbly pipes there. Regards Rich
Royal Tandoor is gud. And also try "Khazana" outside souq waqif opp to old HSBC.
I've only been to Tajine. Not good if you don't like lamb. I had a great chicken tajine in Riyadh, but there's very little chicken on the menu here.
yea...Tajine is a nice restaurant.....very good ambience..
they have exotic dishes too....if they r ready to try out....
say, camel meat, for example.....(slurp!) :)
Ok let me tell u this, i go to 2 restaurants in souq waqif..i tried most of them but after settled on two, LE Gormeh which is lebanese food restaurant, their service and the seatin there is really gr8...and the other one is Tajin, i liked the restaurant but not the food , im not into moroccon food (no offense)...so i advice you of LE Gourmeh!
Al Bandar best fish in Town..
Take them Tajeen (Moroccan restaurant). The ambience is nice, the food so-so
There is also the Asian fusion restaurant
Stay off the iranian & iraqi restaurants
I don't think you can go wrong! I've eaten at three and have been very pleased each time. I do like the Iraqi restaurant for good Middle Eastern food. The fish place is great, too.
Try Iranian rest. iranian food and they have nice bread
