errrrr yellow means it is under ripe. It should be mostly green with a yellow patch where it was sitting on the ground.

#1. take the one with yellowish skin rather than the greenny
#2. tap the skin, if it gives a soft clunky sound than mostly its fit to eat. not to hard or soft taste
#3. smeel it, the ones with a decent scent is juicy while the strong ones usually too soft/watery
