With all this on ur resume and calling urself un-motivated ?! :o)

I love working for charity. particulary children. Helped to organise a monthly playground in Holland for children refugees from all over the world. They live in Crailoo, the biggest refugee camp in Europe. we used to entertain more than 80 children ageing 3-10yrs from over 40 nationalities. I loved it and missed it when I my work sent me back to the UK.

You wont imagine how badly Refugee Children need help at all levels

I actually enjoyed getting it wrong and wondering into Coffee shops in Amsterdam and being handed over a long menu of various drugs... never knew that Hasheesh can be Jamaican, Morroccan or african !!

Again got myself into trouble when asked the waitress of B&B to bring me a can of "Coke".... bless her young lady, only the night before she was describing a dutch meal on the menu as.......(((if you are vegetarian, look away now)))......Bambi referring to dear meat.

yep, I do also prefer Holland and the Dutch people, even though they may not turn out to be that tolerant with the banning of Burqa!

I lived in UK for 10 years and then Holland for 4 years - Amsterdam. Personally prefer Holland to UK. Love Amsterdam although there are a few places I would go.

Coffee shops is where you go for a smoke of you know what.

Cafe is where you go and get your coffee, read a book, a bite to eat , drink etc etc. Much better and classier then the pubs in the UK .

Shopping wise - I still prefer UK. So am really happy that there is debenhams and M&S here. i hope we'll have a tesco or sainsbury soon!! heeh!

I have to shop for a car and some furniture (modern style without the nice glitters). any ideas from where is welcomed.

Thanks

R

You are right about Holland. They do allow some drugs (marijuana) to be consumed in licensed cafes. Also gay marriages are allowed. They are also allowed in the UK but they are not called marriages they are called Civil Partnerships.

Civil Partnerships are not called marriages as marriage has a religious connotation and most Christians do not believe in gay marriages (at least not in the religious sense).

There are such huge cultural differences around the world and such potential for misunderstanding. For me, the real value of these forums is to get an understanding of these cultural differences. With understanding, tolerance usually follows.

I am very interested in Qatari customs and culture so please keep up your blog and your postings.

You are not a loser in any possible sense of the word.

Welll yeah I've read that in Holland there are creepy things allowed like drugs in some places and gays marriages..etc. I don't know if this is real or not.

Lately, I've read about what you mentioned.( Do you know that Qatar has done that? in several places the female employees are not to cover their faces..I think in Banks and some Oil companies) To tell the truth, I kind of agree with it ( I didn't make up my mind totally yet.. I’m still thinking mmmm :-D ) Because of two reasons 1- Muslim women do not have to cover their faces. 2- It can be dangerous; terrorist may use it in a bad way and make Islam looks baddd (it’s not). So I believe it's all to do with safety not lack of freedom. Nor racism against Islam. However, what France did not allowing Muslim student girls to cover their hair IS unfair.

By the way, I’ve been to Holland it’s a veryyy beautiful place I love the flowerssss. I had friends there. They visited us in Qatar some years ago.

What do I do for living… Well I’m just an unmotivated student in Qatar University Studying English. I’m graduating this year inshallah. Having plans on getting my ICDL certificate from NewHorizon immediately after that ..then several courses to join the family consultation office or the social developmental center. I wanna be involved in such new places. They need people who speaks English and computer. And I have some experience working in Doha Youth center and Eid charity… mmmm What else.. I have a HUGE resume LOL I have no priorities proper order..I consecrate the most on activities… so :)

Oh my Goddddd I talked too much! But really thaaanks I needed to remind myself that I’m not exactly a total loser after all ;-)

burqa' is from fabrics. there are lots of ladies wear them when they come shopping in London, they hangout in sheperd's Bush market area driven in those long 6-door limos.

did u know that Holland just banned wearing any type of Burqa in public? eventhough many many things are allowed in Holland !!! I lived there for three years and have never seen such a liberal place but silly hey ??!!

u r quite intelligent, but I might have misled u. No indian or any sub-continent roots here.

what do u do for living?

Looool funny story, will tell her :-)

Heyyy it's not metal LOL it's a kind of fabric between cloth and paper :-)My gramma wears it. No one wear it in Qatar anymore but those who wore it at the past and kept wearing it. Mmmmmm, Good thing that AD didn’t get scared lol so Um 5ammas did him a favor ;-)

3 nationalities in the family (or maybe you meant in the house?)…I seeee, now it makes sense :-) I know how to swear in Indian because of our dear driver when he’s mad at other drivers, Indian angry words just come outta him hehe

will keep u guessing then....

but everything I said earlier is TRUE. if u really insist, will give u little clue. we have three nationalities in the family.

tell ur dear mother this little storey:

I took my little son "AD" to the local health centre last week for immunisation. then he saw this older lady wearing black head-scarf (qatari Style) with metal thing covering her face. My Son then with a loud voice turned around and called "5ammas". Embarrassed I was and hoped she didnt understand him. I shouted "AD... AD;;" for him to stop walking towards her.But two cheeky funny Qatari young men heard him and they also called him "AD... go go". Thought that was funny.

my boy doesnt understand a word of that Fareej but he likes the cartoon I guess and the high-pitched sound of old ladies... I like it tooo. recorded some of it on DVD during ramadan.

Ah!! its late, better go to sleep
