Is somebody experience that his child has broken something in supermarket in Doha and he has been forced to buy that thing as it happened with me in Ansar Gallery.
I disagree with most of the comments, the policy of the supermarkets/shops should be to pay what is broken by the customer :
- many times the products are not well arranged on the shop and do not need a lot of help to fall down and broke. You never picked up something and you saw an object falling down at the other side of the shelf??
- the cost for the shop for broken items is very small (do not forget that the price of the item as indicated in the shop is often 2 to 3 times the cost of the item for the shop) in comparison with what they can earn with a good customer relation.
Plus I do not really like all the comments on this mother ability to handle her kids. We do not know the circumstances and who are we to judge?
I believe in paying the damages.Never had trouble with my children, but once with myself.Went window shopping one early morning, touched a lampshade and it fell off.The shopkeeper said it is okay. But I bought a pendant lamp, which did not fit.So had to go back to exchange. The shopkeeper said everyday morning could you pls come and break something cheap, as the sales was unbelievable the day you came in as the first customer and broke that lampshade.Never bothered to help him anyway.
If you borke it intentionally or accidentally, you are the end user of the product. The end user must always pay the bills. So, step forward and pay the bill gently.
Considering the situation, herein Qatar is different, as I experience around the world, even in our neighboring countries, they don’t charge as if it really happen by a child. It happen with me in Saudia, long back, they deal it very pleasantly. But any how you should take care of children as well in future
Things in Qatar are really different to the other parts of the world. It happened to me once, my 4year old son was trying to help his mother with shopping and he dropped a glass bowl on the floor. A big sound of glass braking store sales staff was very worried about my son if he is hurt himself. Nothing paid.

That is somewhat common everywhere not just in Ansar. A shop in the Philippines says "Touch it, feel it but once you broke it, it's considered sold."

Yep. All the time. You broke it, you bought it. Maybe it's time to take control of your children?

Yep if you break it you pay for it..
Definitely you have to pay. Remember the saying "you break it you buy it". Put your shoes in theirs then answer your question.
I think it depends really on who you are. Have seen it go both ways...
have you heard...
"You break what is yours"
