Anyone has an idea of when Spinneys@ The Mall will be open to public?
Are they going to sell pork or any non-muslim consumables as they did in Dubai?

Batute, Spinneys sell other things, not only pork... They also have products that you don't get here in other supermarkets anywhere else...
I like their Tony & Guy hair products... haven't seen them anywhere else... I have a friend who sends it to me from Dubai...
why so obsessed w/ spinneys?
theres a lot of groceries store around qatar..
...what's so special about spinneys, they'll not going to sell pork...so what would be the difference among the supermarkets and spinneys?

Spinneys will be ready to open at The Mall in May 2010, we will then annouce an opening date when we have received the relevant trading licenses and Municipality approvals. Thank you!
Those of you talking about surviving in doha without pork, are the same ones who would leave the country had they been told Alcohol and smoking will NOT be sold in Qatar. The world will go on without these two as well dont u think?

I love Ikea, and miss it dearly.

UkEng ... home centre much better ... they deliver to your door step free of charge and they assembly it for you :o) SYou should see the shock horror in my husband's face knowing that he have to assembly the cupboards, draws and dining table we bought himself.

i managed 8 years in Qatar without pork, i am sure it wont be the end of the world for expatriates who living in Qatar if they couldnt access pork.

It’s not a rumor. If you went to the Mall, you’ll see the sign that Spinneys will open soon.
In fact few months, they signed with NBK of opening few outlets in Qatar.
I doubt that they’ll be selling pork though. Unless, you want to see some locals go suicidal ;)

does sell pork meats, even in Dubai, only some Spinney's outlet has the privillege to sell pork.

I seriously do NOT understand why pork is not being sold here? Its just freaking MEAT! Do you think those that do not eat beef buy beef? Its still being sold here. Vegetarians dont eat meat, its still being sold here. There are A LOT of other HARAM items in the muslim religion being sold here so why not PORK! Those that dont want to eat it wont buy it DAMN IT! GRRRRRRRRRRRR
