Shortening

Carrefour has Crisco and butter-flavored Crisco in the oils section.

I just picked up Crisco by the stick at Q-Mart at the Mall yesterday. They also had Mazola shortening in tubs. I believe I've seen it before at FFC by the airport, but I can't guarantee it.

thanks for the suggestion cherukkan but like cookies and all i think we have to use shortening for the good texture

All bigger supermarkets carry vegetable shortening of different brands (it is not necessary to use vegetable shortening for cooking cakes, we cook delicious cakes using sunflower oil)
