Even i was having same doubt but i have been purchasing my perfumes from (souq al jabor) for many years now.
I would like to share my personal opinion about brand perfumes in doha
There is no difference between perfumes in malls and souq and yes there is price difference i guess its because the rent and bag provided by malls are higher so they would be needed more profit at same time over souq they just pay rent around 5000 only
Also there are some shops in souq they sell duplicates (be aware) but not in every shops . You can understand easily just by smelling it or by the packing of it if you know how it looks like or smells like
Also one more tips for everyone that you may find difference in smell of brand perfumes that are purchased in malls and souq . Its because you need to know the difference between eau de cologne , eau de toilete , eau de parfum and only parfum before you buy branded perfumes because there is difference concentrate in edc,edt ,edp and parfum (check this before you buy) also there will be price difference in same product but different concentrate
For anyone who didn't understand about edc, edt, edp and parfum i will leave a copy paste of it from internet below
Perfume (Parfum)
It is the strongest fragrance available, consists of a 15-30% concentration of perfume essence. This means that not only do you need to use less, but also that the fragrance lasts longer, typically for up to 6-8 hours, depending on skin type.
EDP (Eau de Parfum)
It is lighter than Perfume, with an 8-15% concentration, but still has long lasting characteristics, from 4 to 5 hours. It is less expensive than pure perfume.
EDT (Eau de Toilette)
It is lighter than EDP, with a 4-8% concentration of the essence. It usually lasts for 2 to 4 hours.
EDC (Eau De Cologne)
It is lighter than EDT, often referred to just as Cologne and has the greatest dilution of fragrances with a 3-5% concentration of perfume essence. It usually lasts for 2 hours.
Shops that i trust without doubt personally ( europe perfumes , blue star perfumes and majid pefumes that are located in inside souq al jabor )
I plan to come to Qatar for a couple of Days in September. Could anyone let me know the names of shops where I can purchase 'genuine Arabic Oudh oil' at the Souq Waqif, which by the way looks pretty interesting. Your kind assistance will be appreciated.
Simple 1st go to the mall and take a sample and then go to Safari perfume and check with their sample.
NB - The sales girls at the Malls are every ready to giveyou any aount of samples to catch the buisness But they don't know smater men like us are using them for our benifit :)
I used to buy perfumes from this retailer, I bought hugo boss from highland and then i bought the same one from this guy... both of them smelled the same and lasted for the same amount of time. Since that time, I just buy my perfumes from the retaile store at the souq.
Dont remember the name of the shop, but its opposite to National Panasonic near Souq Al Jabor.
It's always the small things that make big differences.
If you are smart and you know how to smell and distinguish the original from the fake, then you win! But there are really originals being sold also, they will bring it out if they know that you really know the original one.
"There's nothing we can do to change the past, if it teaches you a lesson profit from it then, forget it."
could it also be that the alcohol content is lower in some of them perfumes and hence dont last longer ?some i have bought also smell diff fr the ones i usually buy, so have stopped buying fr the souqs all but the attar perfumes.

yes be very cautious and you hv to know the original smell before you buy from the souk. but so far i bought 8 bottles and all good.
Everybody is right and Everybody is wrong, its depend where you stand

Go to Safari Perfumes at Souq Al _jabar for the real thing at abount 40% less than the Malls.
sometimes you'll find perfumes with a name but in a plain bottle.
They're not knockoffs, basically they are arabic style perfumes (the mix) but with a similarity to the perfume on the label.

So buy it with all the confidence.
