Parking in Doha

Yesterday I tried to go shopping in City Center. I could not even close to City Center. After crawling along for half hour I decided to pull out of the never ending line and go else where for shopping!

When they build these huge building in the Corniche / West Bay are, shouldn't they also make sure that there is enough parking?
How does City Center expect to do business if their customers cannot get inside and park their car?

I hear there was additional parking at the back of Carrefore some 2 years ago, but now there are 2 tall unfinished buildings there! What will happen when their construction is over and their customer also flock to the shopping center? I see total chaos!

Is there a better place in Doha, to park and shop in peace?

That as part of the construction around City Center, a parking garage is being built. We shall see. They definitely need it and Sheikh Faisal (owns City Center) is an intelligent, forward thinking man so it just might be true. Lets hope so.

Dan, Iknow, I know! When I first came to Doha I was warned NOT to go to City Center on the weekends. Foolishly I tried it twice and never made it as well. It is better on the weekdays or early Friday and Saturday mornings.

The last thing Doha needs is a couple more malls!!! There's more to life than traipsing round a sterile, carbon copy set of shops and restaurants.

What Doha needs is more alternative things for people to do other than shopping. And for people to get a life and realise there's more out there.

I find the parking at Villaggio to be a little better, tho the variety of shops is not as good as City Center. It is a beautiful mall and I like their selection of restaurants and fast food places. Doha does need to have at least a couple more malls to accommodate the growing population.

Villagio Mall or Landmark Mall are the places to go, parking is easier there (oops what did I write, no probalby everyone that goes to CC would go there)

City Center was built a long time ago, when there were less people in Qatar.

Timing is the key. Don't go to shopping malls during busy periods.

They must do business with who ever have occupied the parking.

I always try to avoid City Center
