Carefour.... is awful. Family Food is a 1000 times better and the pricing is not mega mart prices (mega mart is good for odds and ends but not a big shop I agree).

Carrefour's fruit and veg dies pretty quickly. Head chefs at a couple of 5 star hotels will never ever buy meat there. I agree, it turns quite dark if in the fridge for a day.

I bought one and the last DVD from Carrefour and the movie in the cover was a completely different movie. Virgin for me or even better online dvd and book buying delivered via aramex.

Carrefour staff are rude, I second or third that.

Carrefour display below cost items to lure you in as they know that 9 out of 10 people will come out with stuff they never intended to buy.

To spend money in a place and to be treated like a potential thief is maddening. A small bag with a music CD requires checked in?? Rude Rude Rude!

You also have to watch for warranty cards when buying electrical and electronic goods.

I m very surprised of the reactions of some people concerning Carrefour…and especially when they are enjoying Mega mart with its “crazy selling price”! (that s why staff are always smiling, they can not imagine that people spend so much money for something they can find in Carrefour for less ! ) So I invite all these persons to go to Mega Mart (the centre) Saturday morning to make their “show” and to spend a lot of money for nothing….no need to bring "banners"!

Yesterday i Went there .

the security guy said today 13th evening 4 :00 o clock they are opening.

Carrefour opens new hypermarket

See report

MAF Carrefour Hypermarkets Qatar opened a new hypermarket at the Landmark mall in Gharaffa.

The

new store features some 7,500sq m of selling area. The hypermarket has

ample parking spaces, cash counters and a professional team with more

than 300 people to serve customers.

The company currently has three outlets in Qatar. The other two are at the City Center and Villagio.

Carrefour

said its products “satisfy the needs” of families at different income

levels by being available at rock-bottom prices.

“We adhere to

some of the best international programmes to ensure hygiene in all of

our fresh product laboratories and suppliers. Our hypermarket offers

22,000 items from three stores and 450 suppliers,” it said.

Offering

everything under one roof, Carrefour houses various sections such as

bakery and pastry, fruits and vegetables, butchery and fishery,

roastery, deli and cheese section, consumer goods department,

electronics and households goods department and a textiles.

Carrefour

hypermarket concerns itself with the health and safety of its people

and takes various steps to ensure that the environment is as friendly

as possible.

Carrefour in partnership with the Emirates Diving

Association & Supreme Council of Environment and Natural Reserves

(SCENR) cleaned up the Ras Al Nouf Beach in Al Khor and collected over

2.5 tonnes of waste.

In an effort at reducing the millions of

plastic bags that pollute Qatar’s ecosystem every year, Carrefour

introduced reusable bags at their checkout counters as an alternative

to plastic bags, last year.

Recognised as one of the most active

shopping concept developers throughout the region, the group first

introduced the hypermarket model to the Middle East in 1995.

It is a joint venture between MAF Group and the world’s second largest retailer Carrefour.

I can't stand Carrefour and rarely shop there. Sometimes when I get a particularly sour-looking cashier, I will cheerfully say hello just to see the reaction.

But I don't think their poor service and unfriendliness is anything personal. For one, I think they're really not used to being treated nicely or kindly. And two, we're not in Kansas anymore. Some of us are from countries where customer service is priority, so people in service positions are trained in this area. But here, and in many other countries, the concept of customer service is non-existent.

MegaMart is one of the few local establishments that gets it!

Nice one Alec....as they said "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen". If they are really dissatisfied with their jobs then they should quit and go back to their motherland rather than putting their grudge on innocent customers.

yes you are right the idea of this forum is to "share information". admittedly, some information being shared here is masked by criticism, but still, it is information.

we do not have a filtration system in this forum except of course for radical choice of words. telling everyone how someone went wrong is still information.

you got it wrong bro. these rude service people simply do not have the right job ethics & moral standards. you see, they are actually being paid up to 3x compared to the country where they came from & yet they're not satisfied? wadda...! say even if they THINK they are being paid less than their co-workers here, they should not vent their frustration on the CUSTOMERS who are paying for their salaries and putting food on their family's tables!

The negativity of some people on this site astounds me. I am sure it would put less resiliant more sensitive people off posting a topic for fear of criticism. I am sure some people as i am will be happy that they can get their shopping and make it home before their frozen food melts to a pulp.

The idea of this forum is to share information

The AC is blowing directly on me.  LOL    I always make it a point to say  "good morning" to the checkout people the few times I have been to carrefour and they look at me as if I am from another planet.  It doesn't take money to be polite.  Although I do agree I would have a hard time being happy if I was working for slave labor wages myself.   You have a point there.    But the guys and girls at Megamart are just so much friendlier.  I enjoy going there so much more.
