this is to all the ladies who bake. can u tell mewhere to find meringue powder used for royal icing? also i have seen royal icing in packs from silverspoons.. is it good?? or is it better to make the real icing ? i want to avoid ussing egg white.
Just use eggs. How many people do you know who have bird flu, eh? If you're that paranoid about it, buy eggs from somewhere that hasn't been ravaged by bird flu yet.

i just didnt want to use the fresh egg white with all the bird flu scare going around. do u suppose the meringue powder which i think is dried egg white is pasteurised ??? and where do u get that ? worse if i dont get the powder i'll settle for silverspoons.

I'm not sure you can make meringue without egg white!Could be wrong..... Silverspoon is good stuff, meringue icing is tastier....
