Long Live Home Centre!!

Hi Guys,

I'm really proud and happy to have home centre playing their part as a true corporate citizen would, their customer support was exceptional.

Prior to Eid, I was shopping for another sofa and found it in Home Centre(city centre branch), I told a service guy to please hold it for me and shall pick it up in the evening, he said it wasn't allowed to place things on hold without an invoice, but because I insisted so much he actually did hold it.

And I played my end of the deal by going in the evening to purchase it.

After Eid the sofa set was delivered without hassle and I found one of the arms of the sofa was squashed in and felt it was damaged.

So now I had been calling the home centre guys, the guy on the other side took my call, spoke in a nice manner, assured me to have a complaint team out to Al-Khor to inspect the damage.

The next day I had the inspection team over, who wrote a report within 2 minutes to say it was damaged and should be replaced.

Now in the third, the delivery van pulls up and replaces my sofa, and I'm serious I cantbe anymore happier.

Then a week later, the same guy calls and asks how is the sofa and if everything went well.

This type of service I've only experienced back in Australia, but never in a khaleeji country.

Mind you all of the peopl dealt with in the complaint were indians...I'm not saying that indians are the best..I'm pointing out that home centres culture and environment would be a good one for it to be reflected off the employees.

I do believe credit shoud be given where its deserved.

At the same time I do hope we can all share similar incidents involving other retailers, which would establish a kind of a benchmark.

Thanks mojo for sharing this. Good to know of any place here that actually has good customer service, and Home Centre deserves the recognition.

everytime i had walked into home centre, the security gaurds greet you, and i think it takes just that much to win you over.

and no I dont work for home centre....but i do know for a fact that when Ikea comes along these outlets will be no more (unfortunately)

I totally agree Novi, Babyshop customer service is excleent and ground staff are very friendly and helpful, i just wish though they would put a few more people on the cashiers, its always a very slow and long line. Many many times i havent bought what i needed due to seeing the long line, with two little wanderers cant afford to wait that long, but like you said the greetings are very nice.

honestly, we havent done any furniture shopping for years. But their shops (home centre, splash, baby shops, shoemart, city life style) have improved their service lately. Where else in Doha shop have their security saying 'good morning' when you go inside the shop and 'thank you' when you leave the shop ???

Thats why i like to go shopping in centre point ... everyone very friendly and very helpful. Even the security people.

and I reckon its always been there but it was never tested...similarly I'm sure there would be other outlets who exercise the same type of customer service?

The other ones I have dealt with were Milano and Maesis sweets(this is in Markhiya)
