London Lady - Rude Sales Staff

In efforts to find the perfect earrings for my daughter's high school graduation, I spent several days sifting through various shops at the malls of Doha. For past occasions, I've bought accessories from London Lady in Hyatt Plaza. They are expensive, but good quality. I've had no problem with them changing color or losing stones. My daughter was looking at City Center, and spotted the London Lady there across from Carrefour. The sales lady wasn't very polite during the sale, it seemed I was asking something beyond her duty when we requested to see several items - but since my daughter was intent on a pair of earrings and I wanted to get it over with, we took a pair and left. Two days later, when she was gathering her things for her outfit, she noticed the post had come off the back. She had never worn them ofcourse. I dropped her back to City Center to exchange them, only for her to be very rudely recieved by the same sales lady, who told her: I'm not believing this. She kept making rude remarks in English, followed by more remarks in Filipino to her coworker, with looks of contempt. She very rudely and hesitantly agreed to exchange them (after I came over) and then she insisted that my daughter remove the earrings from the stand instead of her, and said, Are these OK? Make sure, because you won't be bringing these back.

My daughter had wanted some more expensive, but due to her bad attitude, I wasn't paying one QR extra to the place.

She definitely has no idea about selling and customer service. The customer is always right. I wonder if her employer knows how rude and bad for his business she is.

Due to this incident, I won't shop there again!

Try to find out who the Franchiser is, and report to the company about her behaviour. I know that she miight not get paid enough for her duties, but that should not taken out on customers..

Why can't a major US retailer come here with 100% American Staff and teach these idiot salesmen some lessons in customer service.

R u kidding? How can you expect 100% American sales people to work here for 1000 to 1500 per month? That is all what these poor Filipino & Indian sales people get plus a place to say if they are lucky and sometimes food if they are luckier.. You can't expect 100% Americans to work for peanuts, do you?

I won't be surprised of your attitude towards Asians.

I know a lot of salesladies and they are not rude. If you mind them as idiots, then I would presume that you are more idiot. You can not even spell it properly and you want to command respect. Be respectful and maybe you'll earn your respect. But by the way you talk, you are indeed an idiot. And if you are an american, I know why you're like that.

"What do you expect. 99% of sales people are Indians and Philippinos who can speak neither Arabic nor English..." I take issue and protest what you said here. You have insulted all the Indians and Filipinos in Qatar who are working as sales staff! Your logic is patently screwed which only shows the capacity of your minuscule brain! What is true of a particular is not true of the general!! Your statement is false & totally outrageous! By the way, people from the Philippines are called 'Filipinos' and not 'Philippinos'. You should have checked this out too.

why put up with this rudeness? you should have ask to talk to her supervisor straight away and make a formal complain of her rudeness. she shouldn't be working in a public place if she can't be polite to people. otherwise they think it's alright to be rude to people and they will do it again and again.

What do you expect. 99% of sales people are Indians and Philippinos who can speak neither Arabic nor English and they come to Qatar and take over all sales: Souqs, mall shops, food, grocery, everything is controlled by these people who have ZERO experience in Western-grade Customer Service and they expect people in Qatar to learn their language. I suggest that Qatar becomes part of India or the Philippines this way we don't get fooled into thinking this is a Westernized Arab country since it is neither Arab nor Western.

I feel sad for native Qataris since they must feel foreign in their own land.

I guess a weak command on the English language also plays a part in this ''rudeness'.

Most of them doesnt know how to properly present what they wana express.

I have noticed a big change in H&M lately, the staff are much more polite and helpful. I like their new rule about having to put the clothes you try on back on the hanger and actually return them to the staff. The result is changing rooms not strewn with discarded clothes and much happier staff because they aren't going to spend an hour tidying up after they close.

There is no excuse for rudeness, however, if I worked at Starbucks, where they are not allowed to accept tips according to one of the staff at Villagio, I wouldn't make a huge effort either. People should be made to feel valued, then they will take more pride.

I commiserate with you as I have experienced it myself. No excuse indeed for bad service since customer is suppose to be 'king'. But as as some people here have said, you should have complained immediately to their employer instead. Perhaps you're the gentle type, wherein you could've told her outright of her rudeness!

you should have immediately talked to her employer.. coz letting these things pass..it would happen again and again to every customer of that place..

she should be reprimanded for being on that behaviour since she is on the sales field..

I have come across some rude Filipina sales ladies as well.. and I am Filipina!! :( It is shyte but they're not worth my time and the best thing you can do is to report it to their manager.

It's their job to assist costumers or possible costumers, if she did that to me I'll be like "What's with the attitude, lady??" :) That would be sweeeeeeet!

you should let her employer know about it, no use putting it on QL....

It is not correct to generalise, however in my experience I find a lot of sales woman rude and abrupt, often treating customers with total disrespect. Most people, do not react by causing a scene by I often retaliate with similar rude behaviour and demand respect. Customer Service is a term that has no meaning here and common courtesy is unheard of. Report these staff to their employers and I am confident that they will change their attitudes.
