I wanna by myself a new TV and I'm really confused as to which one to choose. 40" or 42" is what i'm looking at and the salesmen here are pathetic, dey dunno their product and only tell you the brand thats biggest selling... why? coz it has a competitive price... so appreciate if anyone can assist me with my buying... also havta choose between LCD or Plasma.

Welcome to the new world

A world of the Haves & the Haves-not.

Some people have HDTV while the rest have just TV.

The Diff between Plas & LCD is :

1. LCDs tend to be too bright ie light up a dark room.

2. Plasmas tend to burn in a static image ie if u keep watching a same tv whith the same logo for a long period the logo will show even when you switch to another channel.

Other than that nothing substantial

What to look out for:

1. HDMI inputs (both the TV & the DVD player should have a HDMI input & output socket respectively).HD-Media Interface.

2. If you have a computer ensure it takes a PC input.

3. At least 6000:1 ratio of contrast.

4. At least 8 milisec response time if not lower.

The sound should be from the 5.1 channel THX certified speaker system to get a good THEATER effect. (These speakers are cheaper in Computer as much of the processing is done by the Computer's chip also).

5. The edges holding the LCD should be thin. SLIMLINE.

6. Looks - it has to look good & have esthetic look.

7. Wall hangable.

8. 1080 resolution.

And ofcourse if possible a BLUE-RAY DVD player. (the Blue-Ray images are very-very-high-resolution images).

42 inch LCD is available in Carefore for 8500QR approx.

Happy living.....!!!!

Palsma is the latest technology. Go down to Samsung and they wll explain the difference clearly. Palsma has very good sharp pictures compares to LCD. Samsung is the best in Palsma as far as I know and they are cheeper than any other brand. even cheeper than LG.

I would also like to know the difference between LCD and Plasma TV. Which one is the latest technology and what is the comparison. It seems that prices are almost the same.

Go to Samsung show room at the Centre or Near Sofitel. I bought my plasma from them. Highly recommended.

I have no idea what's the difference. But I saw an LCD TV at my parents house and the picture was fantastic. I think they have SKY HD.

Isn't there an issue with Plasma burning images onto the screen ?
