i'm a brit, tell me about grocery prices
By newteacher •
I'm a bit freaked out by the special offer prices I saw on the Doha's LULU website. everything seems expensive. Can you tell me the cost of basic food items like slices bread, milk, tray of eggs, blocks of cheese, meat slices etc are in doha? is the supermarket shopping comparable to that in UK?
drmana...hehe..no worries but keep my offer under consideration...u never know when u will change ur mind :D ,,,hey u know i have a college friend who never knew anything.now he is married and u can ask him the price of any grocery item or vegetable ,potato, tomato, onion, ginger etc etc,,,he gives the exact market price :P LMAO...
Cheaper than Sainsbury's stores.
Thanks rebel but no thanks :-)
drmana...u know all grocery item prices...why don't we start a grocery business on partnership ??? :P
we have Spinney's that's due to open anytime soon at "The Mall"... or idk if it has opened already???? ;-)
and then as compare to Lulu, villagio carefour is more cheaper!
on the contrary, I think LuLu is one of the cheaper places for grocery shopping compared to ShopRite and MegaMart ;-)
With house rentals slumping, standard of living in Qatar is not very high when you compare if with other places in the world. It's how much you're willing to spend :-)
whether you are freaked out or not...it would still be costly to import all that from UK, isn't it...:)
srry...........misunderstood
sorry, forgot to mention that I'm a brit moving to Doha shortly.
loli, meant to say she have no idea over the prices of different items bcoz she is new to town...
what difference will it make to the price if u r a brit...............
Thank you very much, Zoobi, i will check it out
check and compare prices on different super markets here
http://market.mbt.gov.qa/index.aspx
oops... there are no. of items, its takes whole day to tell you the price of each... prefer to buy from super marts rather than buying from groceries... ;b
there are special offer on many items within the supermarts/malls...
Thanks very much. The prices you have quoted seem reasonable!
Slice bread = 3 QAR to 6QAR
Fresh Milk = Around 5-6 QAR per litre
Tray of eggs = around 13- 16 QAR for a tray of 30 Eggs
Blocks of cheese = Varies as per type of cheese
Meat slices = Australian mutton is cheapest and the range is too wide.
From what I hear from my sister in UK, grocery is quite cheaper here than UK.
