i bought the HDTV. but....?
By master_mas •
it's aaammmmaazzing..
Samsung Full HD 1080p..
but not all channels provide HD quality.. even if they do they give only 480p or i think some give 720p.. not sure..
anyway.
..
is there a nice DVD player that gives 1080s.. & where to get DVDs with 1080p Quality for rent or for sale..?!?!
.
or does it have to be Blu-Ray..?!?!
.
u have to sit back.. for 46" then u have to sit real back to see the good picture..
for me,
for a small room, 32" is enough & i sit at the other end of the room... looks amazing..
i can re-watch all my favorite movies..
got my HDMI cables for both DVD player & PS3 from Jareer QR 47 each
got a sony bravia w series 46"
question is i always see that tv channels are not clear enough .. and in channels like al jazeera wher there is the news bar or tape or whatever that moves at the bottom of the screen .. i see blurry text
is that normal???
Carrefour or Virgin sell HDMI cables.
I find VGA is better for my laptop/tv.
another question..
if i wanna connect my Laptop to the TV..
do i get s-Video Cable or better to get a VGA cable..??
any other better cables i can get for cheap..?!?!
the PS3 come with an HDMI cable right..?!
if it doesn't where to get one..!?!?!
heard about that..
HD-DVD is losing it's market..
from now on blue ray & DVD movies..
most movies r shot in HD 720p.. few r in 1080p..
i'll grap some 1080 movies with the PS3..
along with MGS4 & GTA4 of course..
..
i spent so much this month. so i'll get em next month..
..
Buy Blueray dvd player-not just a HD must be blueray-hd is being faded out all dvds will be blueray!!!
coiped dvds work on play station 3. so buy play station and enjoy. and u can play online games 2 on play station 3. so hurry up buy 80Gb.....
playstation 3 is the best Blu Ray player out there..
i will 1000% go and get it if i can make sure it will play copied DVDs..
Blueray movies and players are still very expensive and movie titles are still limited in blue ray. If you are a big movie buff, it would be a good idea to get a blue ray player because it is future proof.
Personally, Im not willing to spend the money on a blue ray player and blue ray dvds yet.
I bought an hd dvd player which are cheap now because they lost the war and bought a bunch of hd dvds cheap for my library and watch new movies on regular dvd that get upscaled with the hd dvd player.
I mean, even if you have a blue ray player you still have to pay like 30 bucks for each blue ray movie. DVDs are considerbly cheaper and look good enough through a hd dvd or good dvd player with hd tv.
Depends how serious you are about high definition. If I were to buy now, I would get the blue ray player.
Virgin stock them I think, and maybe SARQ. Amazon.com currently stock nearly 2000 titles. http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=amb_link_6333352_1?ie=UTF8&node=387547011%2C387547011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=left-4&pf_rd_r=12GSJHWQS6993D1E68YZ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=408328501&pf_rd_i=383261011
let's say that i got a PS3...
..
where the hell can i get Blu Ray movies....?!?!?
they rn't everywhere & i'm 100% sure they will not be for rent..
ha..
also,
there r few movies available on Blu Ray..
Personally I don't think upscaling gives that much improvement (you can't add detail to something!), so a DVD player with HDMI output isn't worth it in my opinion.
Watch the same film on DVD (upscaled or not) and then on Blu-Ray and you'll see the difference in picture quality.
My 2 cents.
DVD with HDMI out plays DVD's in 720p. normal yellow wire is 480p. You can see the difference is big. So using the HDMI wire with your new TV, you will see a fast improvement in picture quality. Now blue ray is 1080p, so from DVD to Blue Ray is not a big difference in picture quality but sound is uncompressed and pretty sweet. Now buying a Blue Ray player is the same price as a PS3 so it's no secret people prefer to buy that. I on the other hand bought a laptop with HDMI port with Blue Ray player. So if you are not a gamer then that can be the alternate thing to do because the laptop can play anything. Plus HDMI carries sound so you can watch all your youtube or downloads straight off your machine.
People there is a concern in the market regarding the availability of HD discs, the only thing we can do is to wait for the market to open up,upscaling gives u a slightly better quality than others,Blu ray players wont play all the regions, and more over the choice of the films is limited and for sure you wont find what u are looking for, analyzing everything Ps3 seems to be a better buy to enjoys games and Blu ray movies.
I also heard there are Hd receivers available dont know exactly whats their result.
While PS3 games are region free, I think DVD regions still apply. So chipping it will let you play all DVDs from any region. Blu-ray discs also have region codes but these differ from DVD regions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluray#Region_codes). I'm not sure if PS3s can play all blu-ray regions or not.
Chipped PS3...?!?!
why would i need that..?!?!
i will loose the warranty.. right.?!?!
& where to get it chipped here in Qatar..?!?!
yep that's what we are saying..the only other thing is sometimes when you upscale a SD DVD to higher quality you can get an annoying sync delay between the sound and picture, so the persons lips may start moving before you hear the words or vice versa.
As for the PS3 three words of advise "Get It Chipped"..:)
"Your born, You Live, You Die, given this premise, one can conclude since we have no control over when we are born and when we die, the only thing that matters to us should be how we live, simple really?" Mis-Cat to her philosophy Lecturer.
Correct - normal DVD players wont play full HD quality.
PS3 plays DVDs. It will also play divx (.avi files on a cd or dvd). I would be surprised if it didn't play copied dvds.
so,
you r saying..
normal DVD players won't play Full HD Quality..?!
i thought that depends on the movie itself..
.
a DVD player that upscales Standard DVD movies to 720 and 1080p is better than nothing in this case..
.
also,
can the PS3 play DVDs & Copied DVDs..?!
i heard it only plays Region2 PAL & never plays Copies..
Sony did announce they were going to bring out a Blu Ray camcorder but at the nice price of $20,000 it will be awhile before it reaches general population. Also Hitachi have just released one but no price details available..

That is indeed a puzzlement!
So master_mas needs a blu-ray player if he wants to watch HD quality movies.
I looked up the samsung p7 that mohd mentioned and it just upscales standard DVDs to 720 or 1080, which will give slight image quality improvement but is definitely not going to give HD qaulity.
Thats OK I thought you wre commenting on the person above me as was i to my last the last part of my post.
Well there in lies the rub as well, no a standard DVD player will not play back in HD no matter what to play a video recording from camera back in HD you have to play it back through the camera, the other is Sony doesn't make they're camaras in Blu Ray only HD which is something that has been a puzzlement to all Techies out there for a while now since the two are different formats and not even a PS3 will play back HD. But there are still some DVD players on the market albeit quiet expensive ones that play both Blu Ray and HD.

Virgin, maybe SAQR as well.
i'll get the PS3 next month..
but where can i find a Blu Ray movies collection..
i think only Modern Home sell them..
..
@ mohd_subhan
r u sure this Samsung P7 player plays Full HD DVD movies with HDMI cable..?!
where to get it & how much..?!
Sorry mis-cat, when I say HD dvds I mean blu-ray. So I'm right in saying that a simple dvd player (or even a top-end dvd player) will never be able to play HD content? Does that mean that if you bought a video camera that recorded in HD you wouldn't be able to play it back on a standard DVD player (even if it had hdmi output)?
I think Al Jazeera have an HD channel, and maybe a few others.
Your absolutley right at best connecting a standard DVD with HDMI cables just eliminates excess cluttering of cables. Also as I stated HD DVD's are in fact Obsolete and there very hard to find.

But a simple dvd player will not play HD dvds will it? So what's the point in it having an hdmi port?
Sony may have lost the beta/VHS war but they prevailed in the Blu Ray/HD war... To my knowledge also there are no channels or cable/Sat that broadcast here in HD so the effect you are seeing is only from having a better quality TV.

blu-ray play only blu ray disc. so buy a simple dvd player which have hdmi connection port.
or buy a play staion 3.
I think only blu-ray dvds offer full HD quality. Get a PS3.
samsung p7 full hd dvd player with hdmi wire.... buy it and enjoy.
