Grocery deliveries?
HI there
First of all excuse any daft questions I may have as Im new to this and have yet to move to Doha - will be doing so in a couple of months. Basically I was wondering if there is such a thing as home deliveries for groceries or is this really not necessary. I was looking at it from the point of view of a mum stuck at home in the summer with a one year old and no car. Or is it a case of stocking up at the weekend when the car is available and then picking up bits and pieces from markets or stores as required? As I say excuse my ignorance but thought it might be worth an ask!
Here comes eGrab, get your groceries delivered from your Mobile, Just download the app from egrab.qa and place your first order.
Good news for women in qatar and busy professionals. You can order grocery food and home essentials online and get it deliver at your door step in qatar.

Not much demand. Do you know of any openings ?
is very dangerous :)
Even in Qatar, we won't get anti biotics without prescription. viral infections get cured with time and certain anti allergic precautions.
yup brit, I made a research so I ended up doing home remedies :)
I just dont want to take anti-histamine. I had no allergies by then.
ahhh if only antibiotics worked on viral infections we wouldnt have AIDS, herpes & the likes ewwwwwww & yes in UK only on prescription can 1 get antibiotics
I am only a lay gynaecologist, but i believe that Anti-biotics don't work against viral infections and in the UK anti biotics are available only on prescription..
small shops do deliveries.. One small shop near our office even do delivery at work :D
OP- I suggest bring medicines, especially antibiotics or multivitamins of your kiddo.
I remember when I got sick here, the doctor said that i had viral infection and she prescribed me a panadol and an anti- histamine :( (which I didnt take, especially the anti histamine!)
Yes, but for some reason, those from home taste better :O)

Yep, i remember Brit, you ordered a KARAK chay to RIZK and he brought a SOFT chay ;D
BTW
Even in a compound, sometimes have a small shop for the tenants.
Thanks britexpat, that sounds like when my husband was working in russia and every time I visited I stuffed my suitcase with tea bags and cheese!
Yes, items are more expensive, but everything is available here. The only thing I bring from UK is PG Tips :O)
Oh dear britexpat, Im impressed anyone was cycling in that heat!
As a fellow brit, is there anything you would recommend we bring with us (other than patience, sun tan lotion, sense of humour etc). ie is there anything in grocery stores or elsewhere that is really expensive in Doha compared to uk? Obviously I know we cant bring alcohol in!
Dear Alison..
It is all available, but can be woorysome. For instance, last week Rizks' bicycle developed a puncture and my tea was delayed for over an hour :O(
Thanks, thats encouraging to know.
No worries. Home delivery of groceries is very much possible. Just be sure to take a place with one of the corner grocery shops nearby else it can be quite a wait sometimes depending on the bill.
Cheers!!
It depends on the area you are staying. Normally the groceries do home delivery in the nearby areas.
They do. They even deliver to the lazy guy who stays in his car in front of the shop honking his horn!
