Just been here for 2 weeks, thanks for the info on comment thread above. I will look for that place where can buy fishing sets. I tried corniche this morning and turned out nothing. hehehe. I heard about this 'sealine' in Wakrah that is good place for ANGLERS.

Hi, I just moved here a few days ago and have not got a chance yet to wet my line. If you guys plan for sea fishing trip this weekend, can you give me a buzz on 327 8567? I do any kind of fishing - jigging, trolling, fly fishing....
hi Red_pope, im in fact looking for a fishing partner as well..had just touched down Doha a month ago, and still trying hard to get my fishing gears up. had tried asking around for fishing enthusiast, but in vain ..
ll try to get the gears ready by end of the month, and hopefully by then, could meet u guys up for the fishing outing ...
hope to fish with you soon...Ill be there before xmas to visit my wife on for 2 weeks....im thinking is winter a good fishing adventure there?i might like to try it.
and by the way what kind of bait all do you used?
specifically when your bottom or trolling? is rapala effective there and what species do you always caught or what fish is a seasonal right now even if it is a winter?
I am trying to find a good shop here but i just found something in velagio in carrefour so i bought something from there. I was short of floats but a man gave me one and i use it now.
Rods here are not that good in carrefour, i caught really a big fish last saturday on sea site but i was lucky i did not break the rod and struggled to get it on shore. I did not have the net to pull it out and when i got it out through a rod it bled so badly that all the place where i placed it got red. I did not feel good all the day and stopped fishing :-).
I'm looking for a fishing partner. I got my fishing equipment from the US. I'm ready to hit the coast hard and steady for fishing only. Maybe we could get together and hire one of those boats for a sea fishing trip.
I got 2 ugly sticks hook up with Shimano reels and a tackle box full of lures, hooks, leaders and sinkers.
The problem is finding out the day for fishing, since my working schedule is all jack up.
Stay in touch with me on this thread. Another fisherman is Kelly heroes, but he is always on busy.
I know for fact that you could fish in front of the corniche, were the boats moor, close to the Islamic museum, there is some honey holes. But it is seasonal. I have seen lots kabayans fishing at night.
Another place is the al-wakra pier.

Hi - I spent a lot of time looking for rods here in Doha. Found a shop called Dolphin which is on Al Rayan just on left after Al Bidda heading away from Souks. It is behind a white building that lease cars and has an Apple ( computers ) Sign up high. The rod I got was pretty cheap ( 60 Qr ). It is a Mitchell and is beautifully built solid glass rod with lovely quality binding and has a nice action for casting lures. Now to find a good fishing spot...any ideas...Also noticed that the big Sports store in Villagio had heaps of Rapala lures and a few Shakespeare ugly sticks that might be ok for jigging....Hope this is of some help.

1. Garmin shop on Jabr Bin Mohammed street - turn off Corniche at QNB main office, cross signal and half way to next roundabout on right side
2. There's a tackle shop in Souq Waqif.
Did you Google it first?
