Embarrasing moment looking for a Santa hat

So I was walking in the City Center to look for a Santa Claus hat needed for a Christmas get-together in Doha and somebody recommended me to look for the item in the Sana clothes and accessories store inside the City Center premises.

It took me something around 5 minutes to round out the whole store to look for a Santa hat until I suddenly realized I need assistance as I can't find it in the whole store.

So I asked the store clerk who was fixing up the arrangements in the wig part of the store and I asked "Do you have a Santa hat?"

I think he didn't get it at first as he seems quietly looked confused in his reaction so I repeated the word and said "Santa Claus hat. You know? Santa Claus. Red triangle hat with white stripes at forehead." All I got was a mere "No" headbob response...

...and I just realized he may not be familiar with the Christmas character in his culture back home so it snapped my mind as to why did I asked him in the first place with the accessory. Embarassment no. 1.

Now there was also Embarrassment no. 2. So there were two kids beside the store clerk and I told them "He didn't know the Santa hat"....and I think they didn't understand me...

...and then it also snapped in my mind that they probably didn't know English or is of Muslim parents and they're not familiar with the Santa hat in their tradition!

See where it got me looking for a famous Christmas character headwear in an Islamic country where even the store clerk is a Hindu? Talk about being used to a home country where everyone celebrates the yuletide season everywhere you go and me forgetting the fact (for staying in 3 years) that this place doesn't celebrate the said event amidst the colorful lights around hotels and Corniche. :o(
