Car Mileage Fraud
Hello all,
I just bought an SUV from a local dealer on Salwa Road. The advertised mileage on the car was very low (I have a copy of the ad). I got the car checked, everything seemed fine so I paid the amount and got the car. A couple of days later I took the car to the main dealer for service and found out that the 50K service was done a year ago, which is more than twice the mileage the car currently shows. I found out they had changed the meter. Anyways, I tried talking to the dealer and he is saying that the car was a customer's car and they had no idea about the mileage. What are my options in this case? I have been defrauded and have all the proofs for that. I thought of going to consumer protection department. What are my options?
I feel stupid for not going to the dealer earlier.
Will appreciate your help.
thanks!
hello jimmy_pickle... Did u got any resolution? Because I have also the same problem. I need help on this one.
Why police now?
It's better that he tries to find a solution with the dealer first, if that failed he could judge him using the proofs he has, Period.
That's the risk of getting a second hand cars. We do not know the history. Back home we have many grey imports cars from Japan & Singapore. Very new, Cushion like showroom condition, & miles are acceptable( 20k miles) for a 2 year old car.
But when enquiring the car's history to the dealer in the country where the car came from- The car milage is not the actual milage shown. (50-60k miles)
best to contact baladiya. they will act on it ASAP. :)
This is not the first time I read this type of forum here. Car owner changing the meter reader to lowest reader one to cheat or fool other people to sell their car with a high cost.
Gather all your concrete proofs or documents and report it to nearest police station otherwise try to CPD (Consumer Protection Department)
I recently bought a second hand car and before I close the deal I checked all the service history from the dealer and investigate all important info about the car. luckily im still using the car without any headache.
maybe the number plate of ur car was on another car, try to verify the chassis number
its better to show all the proofs u have in police station they will help u.
or go to any nearest police station i-e abu hamour or mesaimer police station...
hi
Your only option is to go to the Consumer Protection Department with all the proofs.
