Samsung is the best.

Samsung works for me. Got one and its doing great. Bought a super duper sony DVD and surround system and it spends more time in the shop. The little cheap DVD player in mydaughters room has proven to be the best. Plays everything and so far has never broken down on us..

LG is a good LCD too...but I know a couple of people that have had issues with them....

Most ones that are cheap in the market are actually Indonesian made, which are about 2/3 of the price of the original Japanese ones.

Samsungs are just price tags...

I personally bought the 40'' time machine from LG, already a year old and no problem whatsoever, keep in mind though that there are Korean sets and Indonesian sets, and sometimes the different outlets, like LULU try to sell you the Indonesian set whilst they guarantee that its Koream, keep that in mind.

Cheers

for 40" LCD, u can find SONY @ QR5,999 and Samsung @ QR5,700. again, go for the trusted brand.  one thing more, i have compared all of the pictures from different brands including, LG, Toshiba, Samsung, Sony, ang Phillips and among all of these, i found out that based on picture quality, Samsung goes in No.1 and Sony is No. 2. this observation was done using a REGULAR player and not HD or BLUERAY player which they usually used in their showroom. ofcourse, HD or BLUERAY player/disc gives u best quality but u are not actually using those kind of player in your home, right?

btw, 32" Sony LCD "S" Series costs QAR2980.-  it is better to go for quality because in the long run u will find out that those product with cheaper price gets easily broken and the one which u bought with trusted brand will last for a long time.

i also asked the same question before and based on what they suggested, Samsung/Sony LCD is good. anyways, 32" lcd from samsung costs QR2,700. it's not that expensive. i think samsung is next to Sony since SONY is also using some parts which is supplied by samsung.

Go for Haier or some chinese brand. None of them are that durable thou. Unless u buy LG or Samsung.
