The only sets I have been able to find are the 'cheap' kind that weigh almost nothing. (If anyone knows where to get the high quality kind in Doha please let me know).
Honestly, coming from a western country the chances of you getting searched are slim, the chances of them taking something as innocent as poker chips are almost unheard of.
I might be a bit late in answering this question, but YES, I can confirm that they will get confiscated at the airport. I learned that the hard way, when they took my clay poker set with the aluminum case that they came in:(
