having been in saudi for a number of years then moving to doha 2 weeks ago i thought that i would share some very valueble information to you about aramex which is located on salwa rd, this company for a one time fee of 138 riyals will set you up a po box address in the uk and one in the us, so if you are missing anything from the uk or us you just send it to your pobox address and within 3 days it is here for $8 for your first have kilo and $5 for your second half kilo, i found it an absloute god send in saudi and even here i'am using it very often!!!! for more info goto www.aramex.com and select shop & ship this will give you the phone number and location of the one in doha

It says on Aramex that customs won't charge tax for items not going above US$2000. I've bought a laptop for about US$1500 but was never taxed. I'm even of buying an LCD if prices are ok and if shipping it won't cost me more than buying it here....

I am planning to buy camera lens and other accessories for my dslr at amazon costing around 1400 USD. I already have the aramex account and address, I just want to know first if Qatar customs are going to charge taxes for these things?

Thanks & regards

hi there riyazbkk aramex do post packages to the us like dhl or fedex but this shop and ship service is from america and the uk to doha , so you can order all the things you miss from your country, they dont do this price for the packages going from doha to america if you understand what i'am saying, so its a one way service from there to doha,

best wishes

had a Japanese art house film confiscated for inspection because of the dvd cover artwork. They watched the film then gave it back to me. I doubt they watched it to the end as it would have bored them stupid. It had nudity and sex scenes in it but it wasn't porn - thus it's returned.

I haven't lost anything with them since November last year ( When i got the account). Bought laptops, Nintendo Wii & DS, toys, VS, and everything arrived perfectly.. again, only almost after a week in the US. A bit delayed but can still live with it instead of not having any options. There are a lot of Online stores that don't deliver Internationally so the Aramex Address is great... Hopefully, the service improves for those who had some bad experience with them.

I am planning to buy my wife a watch for her birthday and I saw a very good price in amazon.com. If ever I want it to be shipped here in Qatar, do you have any advise on how to oter than Aramex? Your help is very much appreciated.

I've been using it for 2 years now and all my techno stuff were bought at amazon.com. So far nothing was confiscated. Just be careful if you order expensive items because qatar customs will apply tax on it. Compared to the prices at the malls here, amazon.com is cheaper even adding the shipment with aramex. And regarding the handling of the box by aramex personnel, it should not be new to us that you receive a damage box from an air freight courier because almost all of the airport everywhere in the world throw these boxes during transfers. Just be sure to instruct the shipper to have a good packaging and sometimes its better to insure it.

I've used them for quite a while now.

I only use them for unimportant things :)

For everything else, I get it sent to my work address. (they don't want to mess with companies as much)

Out of the 6 orders I made shipped to my US mailbox, I only encountered once where my parcel was shipped only after almost two weeks. But for the rest, these were shipped within a week after these were received in my mailbox.

Yesterday, UPS delivered to my mailbox the 80gb ipod classic I ordered and it was posted by Aramex today in my mailbox. I just hope no delays this time.

once had a dvd confiscated, so I thought, ok, once it is cleared it will be sent back to aramex office seeing as it was addressed to their premises. But oh no, according to them I had to retrieve it, and so began the long wild goose chase, amongst the wrong info they gave me, to find out where it was located- It turned up at the central Post Office.

They claimed that it was not their fault but was the law that the name on the parcel could only claim it.

Apart from that no problems

right. I used Aramex because I have an account with them for 6 times. Out of those I got 2 with problems. The first one was a broken mug and they deny who is fault was that and blame it on the guys in the USA. The second one was when I bought LOTR Box set ... The main box that was holding all the books was broken. These people does not know how to handle these things with care and I'm wondering sometimes if they ever care about customers packages.

I haven't tried shipping directly to my mailbox as I was more concerned of confiscation than using Aramex. I'm Aramex but my only complain is that sometimes it takes a week for the item to arrive in Qatar after arriving in their offices in the US.

PM..

How many weeks does it take for Amazon to deliver their books here?
