Another Shawarma Thread
Hey guys.... apologies for starting another shawarma thread...i thot my query wud be lost in the older threads..... but can anyone tell me approx. how many calories does a standard shawarma have?? based on the assumption that it does not contain any fries and is made in the thin bread (not the thick petra kubbus)....
thanks in advance!
Habeeb Turkish Restaurant in Matar qadeem(beinbg 2 blocks away from where I live) and Marmara in Al Nassr (on Wednesdays)....
i only indulge once or twice a week or else I have to make double time losing the calories...

then I must be really super uptight!
I once dissected a chicken shawerma to get an estimate of WeightWatcher points! --weighed the chicken, weighed the bread -- Sorry, I don't think in calories, but I came up with about 7 pts, which I believe would only put it at about 350-380 calories. (?)
This was probably from Diwaniyat Al Bukhari (thin bread, no fries), but they probably vary a lot from place to place.
thanks azi..... now i know approx. how many i can safely have in a week!! :)
I work out everyday and I'm very strict with my diet.
I only have LABAN (AcTIVA), freshly squeezed orange/pineapple juice (not cold, no sugar, no ice) after work out and 2 (mixed) SHAWARMAS once a week...a reward for myself for busting my behind at the gym....lol

@azilana7037.... thanks for the very informative reply....i am working off the calories...but it helps to know how many to work off!!!lol
@Mila..... i dont seem to understand how wanting to know how many calories are there in a shawarma for general information can make a person uptight!!! but anyway... whatever works for you......
The garlic mayo and the chilli sauce (which is probably the sweet type, even if it's not I'd bet there's a good amount of sugar in it), it's probably up to 350 - 550 calories, including the fats it might be a little more, say 650 plus calories.
The chicken meet itself is loaded with fats especially if it's your traditional sharwarma type chicken that roasted slowly with oils and garlic and olive oil and so on.
However, it's delicious and I'm sure you can work off those calories. It's pretty worth it for some good food, I'd think.
