Al Meera Shoppers - Be careful !!!

By Mr. Poly

Hello Folks,

Be warned...when buying items from Al Meera Shopping Centers. I am frequent shopper at these outlets due to their prices, ample spaces and the most.. the best "special offers".

However, yesterday during my regular trips to one of their outlets, I had a chance to glance on the item I had purchased, as the queue was in turtle mode. I had overlooked the crumbled up packing during the cart filling. I noticed that the item I had purchased had already expired few weeks ago.

Its normal for busy/quick shoppers to take what's displayed in the very front of the shelves in order to save time. An ill-feeling shot me inside, that the Merchandiser of this specific product might have taken advantage of this notion and "intentionally" placed this expired product right in the front of the display.

I returned back to check the whole merchandise, just to make sure that others don't get cheated as well. To my dismay all the newer production dates were pushed back in the row and it proved my hunch right.

I promptly informed the cashier and she was concerned on a customer finding this expired product. She panicked (genuinely) and informed the shift supervisor, who was making his regular rounds. The supervisor, to my horror, displayed a non concern look on his face and asked the cashier to put it aside. Saying this, he continued his errands and din't even show the least look of botheration on this issue, not inquired it further with anybody.

The kind cashier apologized to me (of course, it ain't her mistake) and helped me with the rest of the billing and packing.

So in short:
Be always be careful of the expiry dates printed on all the shelf products you purchase.

Thanx
P

It's always the first one that I check everytime i go to shop :)

It's the FIFO (First In, First Out) system in all stores, so you cannot blame them, but putting expired commodities on their shelves is a different story.

Call baladiya and inform them.

perishable items.

It may be time consuming but saves you the trouble of going back, complaining and getting frustrated by their non-response. :)

Its usual practice to arrange the products on display in order of expiry, new products at the back and older ones in the front. So if you want the newer ones, you know where to look for them.

But, this is the first time, I;m hearing of expired products left on the shelf, especially since the Municipality is VERY strict about expired products on sale.

So toll free 8005000, Hot Line 44945550, SMS 92665 is the way to go. IMMEDIATELY.

In addition some supermarket cashiers not issuing the raffle coupon vouchers as appropriate. This happened to us in Shoprite and Family food centre. Doesn’t know whether it’s deliberate or by mistake but there cannot be negligent like this….

Always pick up stuff from the back row and not the front ones.

this is a common practice in almost all hypermarket/supermarkets....to keep the short expiry/expired itmes in front and move back the fresh items....especially for Dairy products milk, yogurt, laban etc...

also those items in promotion are of short expiry, pack of caramel, cup noodles, biscuits ...before you buy these items please check the expiry/production date...once i bought with the expriry date near to a week or so...

in this case of expired item you should definatly complain since the supervisor didnt took your complaint seriously..

if u complain to baladiya they will take a very strict action against them, this is similar to what happened recently in carrefour and the baladiya closed their branch in city center for some time.
