Will the traffic police fine me ?

Today a traffic police guy stopped me near a roundabout, stating that i have crossed the red light and i have to pay a fine of 6000QR. I was very sure that i had not violated any rule. Even the place doesn't have a camera. After arguing, he negotiated and told me that i have to pay 3000 QR fine and he left. I tried to convince him alot that i don't have money to do that, at the end, he asked me to leave (Arrogantly).

Also, i want to know that:

1. Does Qatar Traffic Police gives fine Tickets if you do violation ? (i did not get any)

2. Was he scaring me or he really meant it ? (He wrote my details on a scrap paper)

3. How long does it take to upload the incident on Metrash ?

Possibly, you may be right and just keep the fingers crossed. In this country there is no such thing as an "under-the-table" deal otherwise he would have been just asking for a "warm handshake!":(

He had Police Vehicle and uniform. But, the location did not had any traffic or any traffic camera. Also, i was sure that i did not break the traffic signal.

However, till now, there has been no updates on the internet. My fingers are crossed. I just hope they were scaring me.

Also, i had a discussion with a person in traffic police whom i know personally. He gave few points:

1. Nowadays, they have instant uploading machine, for uploading fines on metrash.

2. If the fine is big, they give tickets.

3. He entered my details on scrap paper. That may be a hint that he was scaring me.

Fingers crossed :(

If he had police vehicle and uniform and you have actually done it, he'll really fine you. and traffic signals have cctv camera's. So do ask for a prove but usually if the cctv camera shows its your mistake, they'll take 1000qr extra cause before showing you a video, you gotta agree to pay if it's your fault, otherwise if it's not your fault, They'll let you go.

If he was not in uniform and just wrote on scrap paper, its probably one of the many fake cops here. In that case, nothing will happen. People try to act like cops when theyre just expats like you and me. But if it was a real cop and you really believe you did not cross any lights and there was no cameras, then you'd be silly to not go and fight the fine. You should not have to pay even the 3000. But all this only if you are absolutely sure you are not wrong. Im not saying you're lying but people do come here and give a different story to what actually happened. Dont pay, in the absence of proof or receipts, you can fight and win. But i still am willing to bet that there will be no fine at all, please post back after a week and let us know what happened. Best of luck.

you can see it online after a day or two... 6,000 is a huge amount of money brother so try to ask any cctv or camera record to review your violation (if there's any)...
