May be try comparing it with Nissan Qashqai that is being advertised these days at 70K. Atleast it would have better resale and ratings.

The federal government gives the 2010 Kia Sportage top five-star scores in both frontal and side crash tests. The AWD model gets a four-star rollover score, which is about on target for its class.

A plus is the Sportage's top score of "Good" in rear crash protection tests.

Among its safety features, the Sportage comes with Electronic Stability Control, a traction control system, dual front advanced air bags, dual front seat-mounted side air bags, and full-length side curtain air bags.

Reliability

The 2010 Kia Sportage reliability score of 6.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

Kia offers a class-leading five-year/60,000-mile limited basic warranty. Additionally, all Sportages are covered by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is the longest in its class (along with warranties from Hyundai and Mitsubishi).

The new-for-2011 Kia Sportage has been redesigned from the ground up, barely larger than the outgoing model, and based on Hyundai underpinnings.

Now powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, and a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder with all-wheel-drive, both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic.

The base 2.0-litre FWD model comes with power windows, electric mirrors with indicators, keyless entry, cloth seats, fog lamps, manual a/c, rear spoiler, roof rails, CD/MP3 stereo with 6 speakers and USB/AUX inputs, 17-inch steel wheels, ABS and only a single driver-side airbag.

When we were planning for a car, we too were so confused as you are. We had limited budget for the car and Kia fits in the range. So finally We took Kia Sportage in March, 2010 and its excellent car. Happy with it.

KAI Resale Price is not good .....
