Overtaking laws.

Are the overtaking laws in Qatar similar to the ones in Dubai? For example consider a situation where a Vehicle A is travelling on the Fast track with a speed of 80 km/h and Vehicle B is travelling on the medium track with a speed of 100Km/h and passes Vehicle A whilst continuing on the same track. Will this be considered as a chargeable offence?

Yes. 7.5 million riyal fine, your car crushed, and 47 years in prison. This is for the first offense. Second offense is death by hanging until dead, a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket, and your drivers license revoked for seven days. I hope this helps.

Murli, You are right , but if the driver A is listening to his wife's scolding on the mobile he would need time to look behind & decide to move out of the way of drivers who are coming at 100 or 120 ......... .......... Wed, 19.11.2014, 10.51 hrs

This is not a violation by vehicle B..If speed limit is 100 or 120, then vehicle A must change lane to medium if it intends to continue on 80kmph.

Its a violation by vehicle A as he is driving too slow on fast lane.
