Pls explain me, the procedure to renew my car which will expire 21st of this month. what will be the % of insurance premium. my car is honda one year old.
Below is my personal experience. I happen to renew my both old and new cars at the same time last month.
For new Cars up to 3 years no technical inspection is required, all you have to do is renew your insurance policy and take one copy of insurance paper along with your expired registration card to the traffic department. At the cost of QR 100 you will get it renewed for a year. I suggest you do this after the expire because they will print the date from the day you are renewing it regardless of a week or ten days left. Go there after a week.
For card older than 3 years but above 1991 models, you do not need to go to Industrial Area instead you can do the technical inspection at the parking of LULU HYPER OLD AIRPORT AREA near THE MALL, if you call them a day in advance then you can have an appointment that take half an hour to get the inspection done but if you go without appointment than it could take 3 hours. Sorry I forgot the number; however, the number is written there on the porta cabin in LULU parking area.
For new Cars upto 3 years its very simple, no need to go to the Technical Inspection Centre at Industrial area, you just have to revew the insurance policy, that is 20% depreciation on your car value which they will charge you if fully insured then take that policy to the nearest police station and they will take your Vehicle permit card and check the insurance and issue you the new one.Thats it very simple...i just did mine and its true that there is a fine of 1500 after one month is over.......
You should renew it 1 month before it expires I think there's a 1500 fine. Since your car only 1 year old, renew your insurance first then go directly to Traffic department.
