I am leaving Doha after a long time and would like to take a car back home but we drive on the right. Is it possible to buy a right hand car here?

RHD cars are not allowed in Qatar. Many years ago I tried to bring my Land Rover from the UK to Qatar but despite extensive enquiries with the traffic police, I was told that it would not be permitted. I believe that it's to reduce the accident risk and if they let one in, then it could open floodgates to more, as a lot of nationals here drive back home RHD cars, so could purchase here, drive while here and then ship home.
One thing to bear in mind about buying any car in Qatar is that they may not be UK or EU specification. Most cars here are Gulf spec, so might not pass a UK MoT test without a lot of expensive work.
I did look before to take my 4x4 back to UK but with current fuel prices in UK a V8 petrol engine is just too expensive to run and not worth much to sell later.
