Buying a second hand car, existing traffic violations?
Could someone please inform me,
Do existing traffic violations on a second-hand car get transferred from previous owner to new owner?
I am looking at purchasing a used car and whilst I am aware that Traffic Violations can be viewed online, I am worried that some may not show at the time of purchase.
Thanks
The Radar violations will be recorded within 24 hours of incident took place and they will registered in their website. If incase there will be a violation after transfering the Istimara in your name, he sould pay and you have to make an agreement with him take his number and you should ask him where he is working...
Better to buy a Car from your friend which whom you know well.
Than to buy a car whose owner is unkown especially in Industrial Area during Friday.....
Thanks all for the replies.
lets say an owner goes through a red light camera and sells the car the same/next day. Would the violation be shown this quickly at time of transfer?
The Present owner of the Car cannot Sell the Car without paying the Traffic fines if any!!! I Adviced you better to have an agreement between you and the owner, if any Traffic Violations may incurred during his ownership not recorded yet in Traffic department he should pay. It happends to me three years ago, I bought a Honda Civic, When I bought the Car there is no violations, six months after, when I am renewing my Driver licence, the staff in counter told me i should pay the traffic violation first then I can renew my licence. After my explanation they told me to go to Radar section to get a photo. The Staff give me a photograph of the Car, it was Wrong Parking violation at the Airport the date was one year before my ownership.
Whenever you visit Traffic department or police station for any transaction, even getting police report for traffic accident, they will check first the violation and tell you to clear it before they proceed with any transaction. So don't worry, once you will transfer the car in your name, they will check it for violation.
Nothing remains hidden :)
Computer system shows all violations /fines at the time of name transfer and one is unable to complete the process before all the fine are cleared...
no ..it doesnt ..all existing voliation has to be settled before the transfer
check first with the car number plate through online - www.moi.gov.qa
Previous owner must be cleared the traffic violation fine, then you can change it in you namee.
HI,
Even though the violations are not visible online, the officials at the muroor will advise you about the violations at the time of transferring the car to your name. Then you may tell the owner to clear it before transferring or pay him after deducting the fines.
