I bought a 2005 model car which is insured at QIC as TPL or 3rd Party Liability until 13-08-2009. As i have read here in QL that some are having hard time or i must say a horrible and inhuman experienced in getting or renewing a TPL at QIC. I also read that for those who want to get a TPL policy under QIC must go in street #43 at industrial area which is not a good place because of the bad roads. Now my question is: can i transfer to another insurance company? if yes, what are the procedures and requirement? Im planning to transfer to another insurance coz i dont want to experience the current situation at QIC. I hope i can get a correct answer from QL member. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the additional info. And as addition to this we are customer and they should not treat us like this. It is not our fault if they are losing. I suggest better to quit than to lose.

QIC are a disgrace, I was sent my renewal notice so I called QIC just to be told my full insurace would cost Qr10,658 with Qr5,000 excess if I had an accident that was my fault yet third party only Qr750 but for third party I would have to go to the indusrtial area .. no chance was I doing that. I went to LIBANO SUISSE and received a lot better insurance deal and really friendly staff with no hassle. I agree everybody should stop using QIC and let us watch them squirm.

The whole insurance set up is wrong, if they adopted insurance like the Uk and offered "no claims discount" for good driver that have no accidents or had an accident that was not their fault. This way the driver having the accident that was their fault would have to pay a higher insurance charge. It might just stop some of the lunatics driving like they do and everybody knows who are the idiot driver here in Doha ...

Yep the ones who think they own the road, drive anywhere they like to avoid having to wait in a traffic jam, speak on their mobile phones, travel so close behind other cars and flash their light like they think they are so important, let their children stand in on the front passenger seat, let them sit on their knee whilst driving (using them as an air bag)need I go on and on ....

my friend is working in QIC at the same office where third party insurance renewal is located.. he admits that the place is bad but he never experienced having struck in traffic or get flat tires or damaged car in going to work, so far..besides people wont really stop complaining.. before when the third party renewal is still in the main office there's no much complain as like now in the new office except for no place for parking, which is not the QIC fault for having more neighbor buildings now and road under construction..

he said that the number of customers to be accepted each day is limited to 60 only but all insurance companies are doing the same as well.. these companies are bargaining the government to increase the third party insurance standard premium because they are losing from the high cost of repair of expensive cars and high cases of accidents every day.. lets say there will be only 60 people to make insurance renewal but they will also accept almost 200 claims of accident and each claims having at least 2-4 parties/car to repair.. imagine one car will be insured by paying lets say QR 2000-3000/annum in full insurance but in third party insurance they just have to pay QR260-310.. but when accident comes, repair will cost at least QR5,000 for each car, and luckier if the car is a mercedes, hummer, range rover, or bmw type, may cost at least QR12,000 for repair..but as of the latest news, i heard insurance companies won over the government bargain about increasing the third party premium.. so just watch out people.. maybe renewing will be a lot easier now but of course the payment is higher...

I did it very easily by transferring to LIBANO SUISSE insurance company located opposite to GULF/DOHA cinema.

.

I called all other insurance companies but they all refused to do it.

.

Just go for LIBANO SUISSE company

As far as I know your tail is trapped underneith the chukky.

as you heard about torturing, and punishing the human being by QIC is well known to all people nowadays. If you are a third party customer in QIC., just bear it with patience or opt for a comprehensive insurance. This is t one of the biggest havoc of 2008/2009., that innocent customers are simply crucified in the queue from morning 4 clock till 12 clock am in the QIC building.

Just discourage all people to get rid of taking any insurance from QIC. and if u buy a new car in the future, insist the dealer that you will not accept it if the insurance is QIC.

And one day they will disappear from the scene, because customer is the business, and if there is no customer no business exists., and dont forget it and dont underestimate their present level of height also. They are not bigger than General motors/Cheverly and they closed down.
