Caffe Tasse has a nice atmosphere, has usually some sort of western chill out music as opposed to the arabic/lebanese rhythms blasting in all other cafes in Souq Waqif. It has a very comfy inside (well airconditioned) and the staff are always courteous (at least whenever I went there). I can recommend trying the hot chocolate, and maybe some of the pastries if you like something sweet.
However, I went there 2 nights ago and the quality of the cheesecake had dropped. Before I thought they had the best cheesecake in town (and I've been to virtually everywhere where they sell cheesecake), but now I think their name caught up with them and they stopped trying. The food there is nice (the meatball marinara pasta I had there was really good) and the pizzas are also on par (better than anything you're gonna get in Pizza Hut, or the other supposedly good joints like Papa John's). I'd recommend this place to women who want a chilled out atmosphere away from staring eyes, or to people who just want to hang out outside and watch the people and time pass. Prices are quite affordable (average for the souq) and also has a free wireless, so the tech maniacs can also get their groove on.
