Benazir Bhutto
Benazir Bhutto is no doubt one of the best examples of a female 'hero' in Asia and Muslim world--very tough and extremely brave woman. She set a precedent; she proved that a woman can reach to any heights even in a country like Pakistan which is a male-dominant society and where politics is the exclusive domain of men. One may disagree with her political philosophy or question her credibility but her leadership capacity and her achievements being a woman are undeniable and unmatched. She should be applauded and acknowledged for pioneering women leadership in Pakistan and proving that women can outscore men even in the game of politics.
Habib Jalib, a prominent poet of Pakistan wrote the following poem about her:
Dartay hain bandooqon walay ek nehatti larki say
Phailay hain himmat kay ujalay ek nehatti larki say
Daray hooway hain maray hooway hain larzeeda larzeeda hain
Mulla, tajir, general jiyalay, ek nehatti larki say
"Aazadi ki baat naa kar, logon say na mil", yeh kehtay hain
Bayhiss, zalim, dil kay kaalay, ek nehatti larki say
Translation:
Armed men are afraid of an un-armed girl
courage is widespread because of an un-armed girl
religious leader, business tycoon, brave general
are scared, scared to death and shriving because of an un-armed girl
"Don't talk about freedom, don't meet people" they say
Unkind, brutal, hypocrites, to a an un-armed girl
