Working Visa Processing

Hi all,

I just would like to check on the average processing time for a working visa to be issued.

I was informed by my would-be employer that they had already started with the processing of my working visa last Sunday(14 August 2011) and will advice me as soon as the visa becomes available. Also, they did not committed any target date on the visa issuance as they are saying that it depends on the gov't office processing.

I need to have an idea on the processing time in order for me to do proper planning for our(with family) transfer to Doha Qatar from Saudi.

Thank you in advance,

Jerson

Do you have any idea in what situation will visa get rejected? This is because some of my friends had their visa applied later than me already gotten theirs.

Hi Flor,Thanks for the advice. We had already considered the option of bringing my family back to Phil and they will just come to Qatar once I got my RP after discussion with employer today. I to will enter Qatar from Phil as advice by local agency in Phil which process all Pinoys hired by the company this as per POEA guidelines. The same agency will give me the go signal when to resign and go back to our country for Medical check-upSo far I haven't tendered my resignation and my Manager is not aware of my plans. Now I'm hoping that the processing in Phil will take some to allow me take my performance bonus in Dec and spend Yuletide season in our country before going to Qatar. regards,

with your action. First, if you bring your family on a tourist visa, transfering from tourist to residence visa under your sponsorship have certain rules (written and unwritten) precisely the company was not giving a fool-proofed guaratee about nothig untowards will happen while they are on tourist visa because knowing the uncertainties of this coutry on such issue (visa and immigration). The common rule is you should have an RP (residence visa) before you can sponsor your immediate family, whether visit, tourst, business or resident visit (you as sponsor). My advice is, let your family take a vacation back, you travel direct here and process all the papers while you are here.  Sometimes, some untoward complications rise up and it will be very hard if that time comes and you won't have the time or opportunity to tackle it yourself as you are tied-up with your job here.Unless you are dealing directly with the company sponsor/owner and your position is GM, COO or President of the company, maybe the chance that they will like you is higher.  But if you are talking to represenative or HR department, then be very cautious of your moves. Make sure that the people you are dealing with CAN deliver (and NOT an employee like you who also is under a certain person). My two cents!

Hi,I think the visa processing should goes back to normal after Ramadan. Mine was applied on the 24th of August and almost took 1 month. However, it is an accepted fact the processing at govt offices tends slows down during this period.Hang on there..that's what my employer says whenever I made follow-up.Goodluck!

Hi Flor,I had talked to my employer(CHR) today and was informed that I cannot bring along my family with me as I cannot sponsor them yet. They need to ensure my KSA RP was cancelled before they could apply Qatar RP for me which they will do once I arrive there.I had also suggested on taking my family on tourist visa and transferring them to my sponsorship once my I get my RP. They had agreed to it, however they cannot offer much help if any anything happens to them while not under my RP.regards,

Hi Shabir,

Just to update you, I received my visa today from my employer thru email. I believe it is a work visit visa, however I will still clarify with them on other visa details.

Hi flor1212,

I was able to read some of the old topics in the forum and I guess you're right that it could take days, weeks and hopefully not year. However, those are 1-2 yrs old and I was thinking that things could have changed since then. hehe!

Actually, I was doing some planning as some of my close-friends had already asked  me to reserve my car, apartment, and some appliances if ever my plan of moving there pushes thru. I will only inform my current employer of my plan once I get hold of the visa from qatar.

I was adviced by my employer in Qatar to just ensure that my saudi visa gets cancelled upon my exit and they are fully aware that I will be coming to qatar from saudi together with my family.

Anyway, I will try to double-check with them on the points that you had mentioned.

thanks!

Jerson

everything is not sure.  It can be in days, in weeks or if you are unlucky, it could turn to year.  What precisely is "planning" you are talking about?  You should be ready by now since you opted to sign for a contract.  Have you given your current employer a resignation letter, because as I undertand they can not issue you a working visa unless you cancelled your visa there in Saudi (hope I'm wrong).  MAybe they will give you a business visa to transfer here and process your working visa when you are here and cancelled your Saudi's working visa.I think, your family need to go home first before they could follow you here! I hope I'm wrong in my assumption!

Yes, my would be employer cannot provide me with the expected visa issuance date that's why I opted to get some idea on the forum based on their own personal experience related to working visa processing.

Their working visa processing time may vary but somehow it will give me some idea needed for my planning.

thanks!

Your would be Sponsor is unable to tell you the target date and how do you expect the QLers to give you an answer for your question. It really depends on the visa issuing Authority.
