Working Visa for my wife?

My wife and I are moving to Doha in Jan 2013. I'm being sponsored by a local company and I'm not 100% sure what this means for my wife.
She's having some difficulty finding a job before we move (no surprise there really!) The company I'm working for have offered her a job, but we feel this might only be temporary until we get fully settled. Any information on how easy (or not) it is for my wife to change jobs if she's on my visa? Should she apply for her own visa?
Thanks

Well, unless the law has recently changed here are the basic facts:

- If you want your wife to join you, you'll have to sponsor her, this can be done only after you can justify of 6 month of salary in a bank account in Qatar.

- If your wife has a british passport I guess she can come on a tourist visa that she'll have to renew every two month (means leaving and re-intering the country).

- She cannot work on a tourist visa.

- The best situation is for her to find a sponsored job in Qatar before you move, not always easy.

- if your company is offering a temporary job for her it might be to get rid of this 6 month period.

- After she's sponsored by you she can look for a job here, but the salary tends to go down for local hire.

You should move first and then talk to your company to bring her on your sponsorship. This way she will be able to find a job easily elsewhere when she arrives. In case your company has not entitled you for family status on your visa, you can ask them to provide you with a letter that fulfills this need. But I suggest you should do this when you have assumed work.
