Working and sponsorship in Qatar for expat

Hi all,

There's a possibility I'll be moving to Qatar in the next few months for a job. All (work) permits etc will be arranged by my employer and my wife and child will move with me.

My wife however enjoys work and we would consider setting up our own business as well so she'll stay occupied and be able to practice her profession parttime. We won't need any additional workers.

I read a few things about requirement for sponsors etc etc. If I have a job in Qatar with the requirement permits, would I be able to sponsor my wife in order to start her own business, as child psychologist, or is there a requirement to have a local Qatari as sponsor?

Appreciate your feedback.

there is no fix rate and percentage on that, its depend on the person who will be going to sponsor ur business. i dont what kind of business u r planning to open. it u can keep in ur house so u dont required the sponsor. but if it will be going to commercial area then u required a sponsor. i suggest u to check when u will be in doha, may be u will meet some nice person who will help u to be the sponsor.... because everywhere everyone are not same. so may be u will get nice person.

It will probably consist off making an office in one of the rooms of our house. My wife has over 12 years experience in helping kids with behavior disorders, dyslexia and ADHD.

Any idea how much a Qatari sponsor would ask? I it a fix rate or a percentage. Any idea of the percentage rate they would demand?

I am not sure but.... if your wife intends to start a clinic (child psychologist).... she just has to clear the MoH Exam conducted by the National Health Authority twice a year... and then can start her private practice with an NOC from you.

Sponsonring your family and a business are different thing. If you're about to put up business here, you'll be needing a Qatari Sponsor for you to have business permit and have it registered.

u can be ur wife`s sponsor but if u or ur wife want to open a business then u required a qatari sponsor.
