What is the Procedure of Work permit for woman?

I am under my husband's sponsorship.I have attained a temperary job for two months. I have signed their contract. They said I can join work as soon as possible. But in prior to that, they informed me that I have to get a Work Permit from the Labour Department.  And with this, I would become entitled to work. 

I would like to know whether there is a general work permit or should I take the permit on the above mentioned company. Could you also please specify the procedures and details of attaining this Work Permit from the Labor Department.
