Can anyone shed some light on this question please? Can an American work in qatar on a visit Visa? What are the ramifications of such actions?

Go a little easy on the guy for mentioning he's an American. It is annoying when people ask, "Can I buy a visa on arrival?" on QL without mentioning their nationality. Sometimes it does make a difference.

You have lack of common knowledge. Otherwise you should not ask this simple question. Visit visa for visit not for work. Also you mentioned "American".

You could mention "Anyone" instead of "American". It means you tried differ american with other......lol

Student visa is for studying. Animal visa is for the horse farm studs and their studding :)

eh? how did i miss this one?

david, it IS a common SENSE, not common knowledge.

VISIT visa is for VISIT

WORK visa is for WORK

BUSINESS visa is for BUSINESS

STUDENT visa is for STUDDING

"MEDICAL" visa is for the MEDICAL TREATMENT

IMMIGRANT visa is for IMMIGRATION...

YOU are the one who sounds very unintelligent, since you cannot comprehend what "Visit" means..

And as I said, not only in qatar, but in the entire world it is illegal to work without Work Permit. It has nothing to do with "common knowledge due to the fact I live and work here". It’s all about your COMMON SENSE which seems to be limited.

but he can work over here on a business visa, which's not a difficult task for companies, but he would have to exit once after three months re-entry...

aivz.....banned in Dubai doesnt mean you cant work here in Qatar. If the ban is applied to GCC...then one cant work anywhere in the 6 GCC Countries.

david banner: generally speaking, an employer will ask you about your visa status before offering you a job. Many employers will offer to sponsor you and provide a work visa and residency permit (this process is much easier here than it is in the US). If they are not willing to sponsor a visa, or if the employer has used their allotment of work visas, they may still offer you a job on your tourist visa. Again, it's buyer beware on that one. If you get caught, you could be jailed and deported.

David, NO, an American, or any other individual, can NOT work on a visit Visa in Qatar.

They can VISIT Qatar on a visit visa though.

There ya go! That should clear things up for ya.

Oh, and common sense is necessary to understand the obvious without having it explained by a third party.

Actually ..its called common knowlegde. Not common sense. When you use words out of text it makes u sound very unintelligent. Its common knowledge due to the fact you live and work here. For sum1 else, its not. Also...this is a volunteer forum. If you cant say soemthing relevant to the persons question, why say anything?

well.. it’s just a common sense... VISIT visa for VISIT, WORK visa for WORK, STUDENT visa for studding... type of visa is self-explanatory.. nothing ya’ani tricky here

Silly question? Qarisun, if you cant provide a civil answer then pls do not say anything. Thank you for your comment anyway. Sarcasm isnt needed.

So as long as the word "inequality" never cease to exist.

Nothing will be equal among individual...

silly question..

is qatari allowed to work in USA on visit visa?

so why American can have rights to work in qatar on visit visa?

is any the national of any country allowed to work in any country on visit visa?

That's why the governments are issuing different types of visas, for tourism, for work, for studding, for medical purpose..

silly question.. Why American should be different from anyone else?

A visit visa does not allow you to work legally. If you do work, you are not entitled to any protection under the labour laws and may be open to prosecution.

In this case, I would consult someone in the legal profession to find out your exact status. You might be liable for fines and deportation.
