Residency visa in Qatar for self-employed individuals
In the UAE, one can obtain a residency visa by a) securing employment, b) setting up a company and c) buying property but I have no idea about the rules of obtaining residency visas in Qatar.
I'm a consultant, not a huge company so until I secure some major contracts, the added expense of an additional office is not warranted. Qatar is geographically central to my client base (Africa, Middle East and South East Asia) plus it's a tax free environment but literally none of my work will be in Qatar so it's not as though I'll require a trade licence or an office. I simply require a visa to reside in Doha.
Qatar Science and Technology Park declined my request to set up an office because they said my field of study doesn't fit their criteria so I must look elsewhere. I was thinking of just setting up a virtual office because I can work from an apartment until I'm ready to expand (there's no point in paying two lots of rent, one for accomodation and one for an office).
I was curious to know if there are any other self-employed expats who relocated to Qatar and if so, how did you go about obtaining a residency visa?
Thanks in advance...
you can find a sponsor, but that's illegal, as a matter of fact, what you are trying to do is totally illegal. You can't practice any kind of business unless you have a license to do so. owning a prperty allows u to stay legally in the country but u r not allowed to work under this residency visa.
If you buy property you will have a residency visa.
I think you will find it is necessary to have a sponsor to reside in Qatar. I doubt if it will be free.
