Residence Permit

Hi

I am from UK, recently offered a job by a company in Qatar.

I would like to know that what does residence permit means in Qatar? I guess company will arrange my business visa first so that I can fly and come to Qatar and join the company and afterwards they will start processing my residence permit and put RP on my passport? is this correct?

Is residence permit specific to one company? if i leave the company then can I stay in Qatar if i have residence permit? and how long is the validity of RP?

Thanks

Guys, I think my company will be applying work visa for me and once I am in Qatar they will apply for RP.

It takes one month to put RP on the passport. Once I have RP then they can apply for family/spouse visa and then my family can join me.

You will probably come in on a tourist visa if you are British. And if you are no longer employed your boss will cancel your RP and you have 7 days to leave the country - or else!

if the company is arranging your business visa, you won't be able to get any resident permit unless they apply an employment visa for you, once you arrive in qatar.

Resident permit is specific to one company, once you get your employment visa, they will proceed with your medical and finger print, after finger print you will get your resident permit showing your name and sponsor name with other information in your Qatar ID, and in passport.

you have to obtain an NOC to transfer sponsorship, or in case of employment less than a year you will have to obtain Secondment.
