Hi Irshad,

What all tests are done in the medical examination once you arrive in Qatar?

What is PPD test?

Regards,

Sam

One of the biggest problems with having pets in the home is the fact that so many people suffer an allergic reaction to them. Though when the allergy first appears it may not be obvious as to what is the cause and all possibilities need to be looked at before being certain that it is due to the pet.

I hve come to qatar 2 weeks back and medical commission found some abnormality in my X ray and rejected my rp test. Then they have asked me to take a PPD test and injected the dose under my skin. After two days, the portion where the injection was given has become slightly reddish. They did the checkup and asked me to come back after 4 days. I hve asked them whether the test result is positive or negative, but the not replied at the same time written "L" on my test paper. Can you please help me to understand what does the "L" means and why are they not responding to my queries. Can I still get the RP completed? Please reply soon so that I can reduce my tension if something is in favour to me. Thanks

They are checking for confirmation maybe they're doubt.. even it will be red dont wori because almost people has expose to tb its just that you will develop more if u are contaminated with infected person or your immune system is low.. Your case is very common already there is one person is positive already he can still work but probationary he take tb drugs after checking if already treated he now receive his RP..

Dear Pasha,

Dont worry, Its a very nominal test for knowing latent TB infection also called as montox test, they will inject you underneeth your skin and will call you back to see the reaction after 24 hours, usually they dont do it, but only in cases where they have some doubts.

If you do not have any history of this disease or there wasnt any patient of such in your family, you need not to worry, it will come negative and even if it come positive they will recommond for another test called Quantiferon TB test that will rule you out of any sort of infection. Well why I know all this is I was working in Oman medical commission for six years and here also I am some what associated with this, so dont worry and have faith.

By the way whats your profession?

Well I am not sure in TB case but in Hepatitis and HIV they will not leave you to stay in Qatar. In TB, cases vary as sometime the person Xray is not clear and they will put him / her on medication for a month or so and then will check again. In that case they will allow but again if TB is positive then might the answer will be negative but i am not sure as now a day there is 100% treatment for TB. sorry to ask you but how was ur medical report in your home country?

if you never cross to TB bacteria then dont worry. This is normal after PPD skin test they have to check you with in 48-72 hours to confirm PPD test whether it is negative or positive.
