offer letter

I was offered a letter by the company i wish to work. it was stated that my expected joining date is may 1, yesterday. I went to work yesterday bringing with me the offer letter they issued. and the HR told me to bring it on May 1. when i arrived, the HR requested me to come to his office. i held him my offer letter with my signature on it. then, he told me to call him again tom. may 3 at 8am. he told me, i will not start yet to work today, that's yesterday, may 1. he also told me, i must not worry because i already passed the interview and exams.i was just thinking they might have a second thought of getting me? i badly need a job. is this possible? pls. help. thanks.

the HR of the company offered me this position as a secretary. he is also the one who interviewed me. are there possibilities that they might have a second thought even if they gave you an offer letter already? it's a construction company.

who offered you the job? THe HR manager or the GM. If its GM check with him
