NOC

Hi,

A close friend of mine worked in Qatar for 2 years. He has been away from Doha for a year now. I am fully aware of the 2 year ban thing and so I went to his previous employer and they told me it was their policy not to give an NOC.

Does anyone have any suggestions or would my friend just have to wait another year? I've heard stories of people doing visa runs in and out of the country. I am guessing that this is illegal?

Thanks.

What is 'illegal' and what happens are two completely different things. As long as your friend is British (or European), he can come back freely and go in and out on a visit visa every 60 days with a visa-on-arrival. So many people are doing it due to the comical NOC situation. The challenge is finding an understanding employer. There is a risk for both the business and the employee to work without a work visa, but it's minimal and he just has to be cautious. On the other hand, the right new sponsor with enough 'Wasta' may be able to have a chat with the old sponsor.

Apply for business visa.. so that every 3 months he need to exit and come back.. may be near by country he can visit and come..

and end of 1 year he will be free from BAN period

Unfortunately your friend has to wait till Two Years period . All stories about Visa run are not correct . Either those people have NOC or they come on business Visa . Some time even business visa is not possible ........
