How to get RP for family?

Yesterday I submitted a form titled "Application For Family Entry Visa" with salary certificate, passport copies, marriage & birth certificates etc. at Gate 3 in the Gharafa MOI head office. They gave me a receipt and said "check in 1 week", I am assuming check on the MOI website.

I know it sounds silly but I don't even know what I have applied for. What I am trying to do is get a RP for them so I can enroll the kids in a school! The my employer's immigration office told me to complete and submit that form, which I duly did.

My family are already here with me on a 1-month tourist visa (issued on arrival at airport) which expires in on 12th January.

Am I on the right track and what are the prospects that it will be sorted before they are due to fly home on the 7th January?!
