health screening

Hi there,

I got three questions:

1/ Why do I have to do the screening for TB, hep ...
before coming to Qatar since I'll have to do it again anyway once in Qatar?

2/ Do children under 10 need to be screened as well?

3/ I'm TB positive because of BCG but don't have TB based on X-ray, could this have a negative impact?

Thanks in advance Qlers ...

When you are screened before coming to Qatar and your test shows a positive result in one of the screened diseases, you will not be cleared by your agency to come to Qatar. At least, while still in your country, you already know. These tests are done again when you reach Qatar.

TB is determined by X-ray. If it is doubtful or positive, they will do skin test (which is usually positive in most cases since most people are exposed to TB and our body has produced antibodies for it and that's what makes the skin test positive). If you are positive, you will undergo treatment (unlike before that you will be deported).

Children 12 years old and above undergo the same screening.

You have to get it done before coming to Qatar because they want to minimize the number of people that are turned back from Qatar after the medical in Qatar.

Here the presence of TB is determined by an X-ray, not a skin test. So you should be fine. A skin test would generate too many false positives.
