Family travel with me to start work in Qatar?

I am UK technical manager. Live in Shanghai with my wife and baby (both of them on philippines passports). I have employment contract with qatar branch of my company, salary enough to allow family sponsorship.

Can someone please advise me how my wife and 9 month baby could travel together with me to take up the new position? I expect i will come with visa on arrival and then complete the paperwork for my work permit/ RP etc once in Doha.

Do i need to get their birth certificates and our philippines marriage certificate stamped at Qatari embassy etc in Manila before coming? Or is this not required?

As we live in Shanghai it is going to be a huge hassle to try to get things stamped in manila before coming to Doha. Start date is end of May so we are short of time. Thanks, any advice greatfuly received.

to john, visit visa is only one month in duration after that your wife and child must exit qatar and wait again for the tourist visa that you will send to them.iether they go to Bahrain or in Dubai for a short period of time may be a day or an hour if the TV is ready they can comeback in Qatar immediately.but, if you can manage to provide them husband sponsor visa in one month then no need for them to exit but i dont know if one month is enough time for you to have their visa under your sponsorship.because of the requirements of the labor in which you have to show them a salary bank statement of at least 6 months not less than 7000 Qatar riyals. others submit only 3 months bank statement and they got. anyway your a British national and your country is a member of affluent country not like what the gentleman named qatarisun ( how moron is this guy used an incorrect grammar 'STUPIDEST SUGGESTION' theres no word like that i think the term he should use is, the most stupid idea or suggestion') told earlier about the Philippine passport of your wife which is not a member of affluent country.maybe there is some special treatment or consideration for your nationality and since they are your legitimate family they can do exceptional things for you and your family because your a white man. im not sure with that but, try so you will find out.

to qatarisun, the hero of QL i suggest when your making comparison make sure that you know how to use the term more and most. shame for a Canadian like you.your like a dried fish wrapped in an old newspaper sold bargain in the market how cheap you are lol.

Hi John

My wife and daughter have Philippines passports. So long as they see the proof that you are married and you are the legal guardian of your child you should be able to do something. It was pretty straight forward for my family. For the RP get a letter of no objection from your company. Their branch here should help you speed things up. Contact the Qatar embassy direct. They should be able to help guide you

Thanks everyone for the input.

What about the chance if company provides me business visa and i then ask Qatar embassy in Beijing to provide tourist visa for my wife and daughter to accompany me on the "business trip"?

Is there a chance that would work? Qatar embassy must surely allow us to travel together as a family? What if we wanted to take a legitimate holiday there for example?

If they issue a TV - how long does that last for and how many times it can be renewed etc? Would it give me enough time to complete the RP WP and family visa etc?

Thanks again

and hey SCROTON, his family won’t get a visa upon arrival NOT because they hold DIFFERENT form his passport, but because Philippines isn't in the list of the countries whose citizens can get visas upon arrival.

OMG.. do you suggest the Company to provide the invitation letter for the baby?? do you want his company to laugh at him? By the way, the company might not like this way of approaching! Issuing business visas for NON-business purpose is illegal, and if the Company cares about compliance with the Government laws, they most likely won’t do that.. and you suggest someone who is just joining the company to ask his Company to violate the law! how nice!

SCROTON, lol.. this is the stupidest suggestion i have ever heard! HOW one on the earth can provide 9-months baby with the BUSINESS visa?? you guys are completely twisted with these business visas! you so much got used to BUY them illegally, even don’t have a clue what this business visa is about! Business visa is provided by the company to short-time employees, consultants and other individuals for the BUSINESS purpose! what the hell business purpose 9-months baby can have in Qatar??.. oh, and guess what, sometimes to issue a BV Government asks for the Graduation Certificate, which must be not less than University degree.. yeah, 9-months old baby certainly falls into this category!

Now, Amingjuan, RP doesn't take 3 days. 3 days is the period after Medical and fingerprints. How long these two might take - only God knows.. it could be anything from 1 week to 2 months.

Amingjuan, you can TRY to get the tourist visa through the hotel for your family. this is the ONLY way you can bring your family with you. This way isn't guaranteed though, when it comes to Filipinas.

amingjuan, you and your family is in shanghai am i right? and your going to qatar with visa upon arrival and your wife and 9 months old baby will not get visa upon arrival because they hold another passport different from your passport? and you want to enter here in qatar together with your family? you can do one thing if, possible ask your company here in qatar to provide your wife and 9 months old baby business visa so that they will be able to enter here in qatar together with you. tell also your company in qatar to provide invitation letter to your wife and baby as it is needed to prove that their purpose of coming here in qatar is ligitimate.business visa can last up to 3 months and renew every month after 3 months they need to exit. by that period of time ( 3 months )you can process and obtain your family visa and no need for them to exit qatar.and in processing visa for your family you can follow the advice of roy it is correct.regarding your marriage certificate, son or daughter birth cert, wife birth cert, and your wife school credential if she want to work here but, if not dont include your wife school credential.these documents need to obtain red ribbon in DFA manila. the question is who will do that?. your wife relatives can do that and after getting the red ribbon they can send it to you by LBC. then you will go to philippine embassy in doha for stamping of your marriage cert.son or daughter birth cert, your wife birth cert. and her school credential if,she want to work here.your school credential will be stamp in your embassy here in qatar.after that you will go to qatar ministry of foreign affair for attestation of all your documents stamped in philippine embassy and your embassy.your company should provide you a letter which includes the following:1.salary certificate mentioning your basic salary, house allowance and other benefits that you receives from them.2.no objection from your company to bring your family in qatar. ( NOC )all of these should be written in arabic.if completed then you can now go to souq waqif in doha near karwa bus station opposite of al fardan bring your passport together with your wife and baby passport, your resident I.D.card. there you can see so many typists just simply tell i need a form to type application for family resident visa and they will do it for you with a charge of 15 to 20 riyals only. your company mandoop or agent can do that in behalf of you if you dont know the place.

when all the documents are complete you can submit the photo copy of all your papers to the labor department in mumtaza but dont forget to include electricity bill and read the instructions at the back of labor application form regarding the sequence of your documents to be pass. it is necessary that your documents is in sequence.and one thing more since your wife and baby is under business visa ( if they entered with business visa )the arabic certificate that your company will provide should mention 'no objection to transfer wife and child visa from business to husband visa" i hope it could help you.if you need to clarify more feel free to contact me my service is free good luck.

Hi Roy, thanks for your reply. It is very helpful. Do you think it would be possible for me to bring my wife and baby with me if we all arrive on a on a visit visa or i arrive on a business visa and them on a visit visa and then have the PRO switch that over to RP status etc?

If not then what time scale do you think they can expect if they wait in Manila for me to process the family paperwork? You mentioned that the RP would take 3 days, how long after this do you think i would need to arrange their family visa (assuming all the paperwork was in order when I arrived)?

Also, what is the fingerprinting all about - is this to make sure that I have not got any previous visas in Qatar for which I would need a NOC? I think Dubai does eye / iris scanning for that purpose.

Thanks again.

Your wife and 9 months baby cannot come with you at the same time, as you will come on visa on arrival and your wife and kid is with philippine passport.

Here's the break down on what to do once you come on visa on arrival:

- your company in doha will transfer your visa on arrival to work visa.

- you will be schedule for medical check, finger printing.

- After 3 days you will have your qatar resident permit.

THIS TIME YOU WILL START TO PROCESS FOR YOUR FAMILY:

-there is a form in labour department for family sponsorship

-Letter from your company 'no objection to bring your wife and kid here' and stating your jod and your salary also.

-you need to attached your college certificate (to be attested in your country's ministry of foreign affairs and also in UK Embassy in Doha)

-Your merriage certificate and your kid birth certificate(Need to be in red ribbon at DFA Manila, stamp from philippine embassy in doha and stamp from Qatar Foreign Affairs in Doha.

-3 months bank statement, if you dont have then you can tell them that you are recieving salary in cash.

-electricity bill from youR house.

WHILE YOUR WORK PERMIT/RP IN ON PROCESS YOU CAN START PROCESSING FOR THE PAPERS NEEDED IN FAMILY SPONSORSHIP.

I HOPE IT WILL HELP

THANK YOU,

ROY
