Business etiquette
My husband has recently been shortlisted for a position in Doha and was told by the human resources department at the company that they would organise his visa documentation and get back to us with a likely interview date. This was about three weeks ago and we haven’t heard any more. He has emailed once for an update but has received no response.
Does anyone know whether the visa process (he is on a New Zealand passport) takes a lot of time? Is it considered impolite in Qatar for my husband to chase his contact at the company and ask for an update in person?
Hey there, just wondering if you were able to send me the name of the consultancy you found good. Sorry to chase you just of you get a minute.
Cheers
Thanks look forward to receiving it. Appreciate it.
I will send it via private mail to you
Thank you for your advice. It certainly sounds like proactively following up with the company will be the best thing to do. We’re very excited about the opportunity, so are eagerly awaiting updates. My husband is in the magazine/publishing industry and is currently the editor of a national magazine here in New Zealand . Can I ask which New Zealand-based consultancy have you used in the past?
give the company a call and ask to be put through to the person who has been dealing with it and then floow up with a confirmation email. If the position arose via an employment consultant get them to earn there fee and find iut what is going on. In the last six months my company has hired staff from NZ and Oz and we allways use a consultant from those countries. The visa's have been formalities but residency permits (RPs) have taken about 4 to 6 weeks after the person has arrived. My PA who is Lebanese handles all the paperwork and one of our drivers does the running around and lining up at government agencies etc.
As for courtesy and customer service if you are polite, patient and persistent you dont have any problems. You may get the occasional unhelpful person but there are a few of them in Sydney and Auckland no doubt.
Good luck with your husbands job hunting, may I ask what sector is he in?
if u are a white from NZ, u would be shocked at the rudeness and completely non-existent customer service here. no etiqutte here too.
they are all foreign workers from india, phillipines, pakistan, nepal, africa...and the rest i leave it to your imigination....
he can call them to follow-up with them ; here in qatar such things are little abite slow , he should call with no problem.
Kind Regards //
then I advise that he call them to follow-up on the offer.
Good luck.
